Life is a game.

For me its like playing a game. The game motivates me to play. And in the process, I learn some interesting things.

Its a form of reward system and to stop or at least reduce spam, the lower levels are limited to the number of answers and questions you can post in 24 hours, But as you gain more points you can ask more and answer more. I believe the thinking behind it is that the people that could abuse a free for all site will get bored before the reach the level where there are no limits.

i guess it is just recognition thing. I am trying to get really high on the levels, but nobody votes me best answer. So i only get 2 points a pop.

Same reason you get points for playing those mind-numbing video games. If all you did was read and write no one under 25 would bother to participate because there's no 'reward.'

ur not the first person to ask this question.
we ask questions and we get answers.
someone asks a question and you answer it.
we get 2 points for each question that we answer.
we lose 5 points for each question that we ask.

we do this in our spare time and the more points we get, the more we want to go on this website.
