Tai chi is more spiritually oriented, which would attract those looking for a more artful style.
Fans, as a weapon, would have to sought out independently from dojo to dojo. I've been to dojos that taught the same style, but trained only in a certain school or arena of weapon.

Read the book Iron and Silk by Mark Salzman. Lot of interesting styles mentioned in that book.

jindo is da best martial art for me. U learn to react quickly and to defense yurself, which is really needed since the world is just too dangerous. also reccommended: karate and tae kwon do.

MMA is the way to go. Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, and any other great stand up art is what u need.

try FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS. it is also called eskrima, kali and arnis.
