viruses do not depend on water persay, but technically without some type of liquid they would be completely immobile. inside of a host they move thru liquid. without liquid at some point they would not be able to perpetuate, so yes they require water to live, but not as sustinence.

Viruses need a host to survive. While bacteria can grow and reproduce on their own if they have enough food, viruses need to be INSIDE the cell of a living plant or animal (including humans), or even inside a bacterium!

What is the goal of a virus? Once a virus finds the perfect host, the goal is to reproduce and spread. Imagine that a virus makes a home in the cells that make up your blood. Then, it can hitch a ride just about anywhere in the body, and spread itself around. Some viruses will make a home inside a cell and grow and grow until the cell bursts, spreading the virus around to find new "home" cells. Viruses are pretty sneaky because they can mutate (change) quickly to adjust to a new environment.

Virus do not technically live. The tobacco moseic virus was the first virus to be isolated in a purified form. (around 1936 or 1937). That purified form ended up in a crystalline state.

Yes. There are some vaccines that are freeze-dried viruses that are diluted with water to fight diseases such as Chicken Pox and Measles, Mumps and Rubella. I read somewhere that some viruses were found on ancient mummies and infected persons who came in contact with them, thousands of years later. These were the supposed 'curses' that came with opening tombs.

viruses arent alive so they dont live anyways. anyways some viruses are hardier than other so they can "live" longer than others while the other can only "live" for a few seconds outside of a host
