I get sore muscles from work-outs I haven't done in a long time and keep at it for an even longer amount of time and yet I have no muscle tone. I do sit-ups, pull-ups, jogging, walking, twists.... and
my muscles are like soft puddy. What could I be doing wrong and how do I correct it?

Try Yoga--

Strength AND Stretching.

Start out slow-- do the easier versions of the poses and then try the harder poses as you develop power and endurance.

My yoga teacher is 65 and has the body of a 35 yr. old -- she is one strong woman and it looks nice -- not too muscled.

I added yoga to my strength training a year ago and it's a perfect complement to consistent strength training, but that could also be your problem-- maybe you aren't consistent.

Try hiring a trainer-- even for just a few sessions-- see how it's done. Many of my clients were wasting HUGE amounts of time with lengthy, inefficient workouts before I taught them...

Good Luck :)

it could also be your diet. you may have tone muscles but you have layer hidding them. :) try eating smaller meals with healthy snacks in between. and have each meal be 2/3 vegetables and and the other 1/3 split between protein and carbs. and try not to eat carbs for dinner. this is just a "cleaner" way to eat.

diet is just as important as training. and its actually quite normal and good that your muscles are sore. that means your working.

you don't have to be sore all the time but it's good to feel that aching to make sure that you are challenging your body and constantly doing different things. that way your body won't get used to that exercise, and it won't plateau. which means basically your body isn't changing anymore.

in the end, you just need to be consistent. you can have little cheats like a piece of chocolate but stop at that one piece.

you need more protien, your body cannot produce muscle without enough protien. Eat some red meat.
