I would not recommend it. Electric stovetops themselves are etremely inconvienient. They heat unevenly. So when you put the stovetop grill on it, it will be heated unevenly. Serious cooks use gas grills, though they are difficult to maintain, but its television. So good luck.

It only works if you can get one that is all electric . You have to have heating coils underneath it. Kind of the principle of electric skillets , electric portable pancake grills.

You can. But some stoves coem with a grill and from what I saw at Sears, they have their own heat source.
