I have company coming over this evening, and I want to know whether or not you serve it chilled. Thanks!

Thank you for your answers everyone! I usually drink dark wines, so I'm not used to chilling them.

Yes, you chill White Zinfandel. You can chill every kind of wine out there but to varying temperatures. Red wines should only be chilled to 14 to 20 degrees Celcius, which is around 57 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. White wines and Rose wines (ie. White Zin) can be chilled to anywhere between 4 and 12 degrees Celcius (39 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit).
Hope that helps and happy drinking.

White Wines:
Lets examine the standard industry figures for serving wine. Based on my research I find that most of my industry books say white wines are too cold right out of the refrigerator. Sweet wines such as White Zinfandel and Rieslings are usually better colder but delicate and Oaked wines tend to loose flavor when they are too cold. This fact is true for most wines served when they are too cold. The overly chilled wines will seem flat and tasteless. I have friends that will only drink red wine cold, because the cold masks all the flavors they dislike. Now this isn’t the classic way to enjoy red wine but if it works for you, great!
So for your white wines chill them in the refrigerator and take them out about 15 minutes before serving. That will allow them to shake off the extreme chill and start to show more of the fruit they have to smell and taste.
To quick chill a bottle of any white or sparkling wine don’t put it in the freezer, use ice water. That’s right, be sure to use lots of ice and add water, this will chill the bottle cold in 15 minutes. This is much quicker than using ice alone.

Yes, I do chill White Zinfandel before serving. Both my wife and I like it chilled before drinking. We both prefer it chilled rather than room temperature.

Next time impress your family with a nice rose. California rose will be less dry and better for their palates. Try this great deal on Overstock http://www.overstock.com/sm-12-bottle-box-of-2004-belvedere-california-rose-wine--pg-PROFRAME_pi-1680502_ti-82125.html
a bargain. Goes really well with barbeque, much to most peoples belifes, and is a perfect afternoon summer wine served chilled to the bone.

you always want to chill a white wine before serving, most good wine shops have a wine steward who does it for you. you can do that if your pressed for time. or there are these great things called wine chillers, it does it in about 10 min or so, and no messy ice.

Yes. Most wines, even the heavy reds (cab, merlot, etc) benefit from being cooled prior to serving.
White Zin should be served at 57-62 degrees F.

I like my chilled around 55.. and I also like it to the taste after it has sat just for a while.
I don't like it room temp.. nor do I like it be kept on ice.
I do like to keep a cooling sleeve around it while sitting outside.
I agree w/ the person who likes the Riesling from Costco.. it is the most wonderful wine.

Yes, but I wouldn't serve it at all, it's really bad wine, doesn't matter who makes it. Try a nice pinot grigio or red zinfandel.

Yes. Also, have you tried St. Michelle Johanisburg Reisling? Fabulous chilled, and very inexpensive at COSTCO. Try it with some shrimp, you will be an instant success. Enjoy!
