I am a Christian, but I think the bible has been translated so many times throughout the centuries that it's hard to know what is there and what's missing...I use the bible more as a guide....

The reason that some of the things were taken out or omitted was based on authenticity. The Old Testament was already in use by the time of the New. If you are referring to the Gospel of Thomas or Mary Magdalene, they are not authentic. The time frame of Thomas didn't coincide with the writing.Writing styles didn't jive, etc. A lot went into editing. There was no hanky panky trying to make it fit the rules At this time the Gospels were in use ,though. The early Church did read them to the congregation. That is where tradition plays a roll in Catholicism. The tradition came first for obvious reasons.

The Bible has always been edited by men. They took out as much reference as they could to the fact that Jesus had Brothers and Sisters. Didn't go with the Virgin Birth, never mind that it seems the original translation was pure soul, not the same thing as virgin. It is easier to get people to conform to what you want them to if you only tell them what you want. Many books were completely disregarded, as if they didn't exist. Now that some of these are being found and translated, the churches are going nuts. It's too bad that they weren't just satisfied with Jesus " Love one another as I have loved you" and judge not lest ye be judged. The world would be a different place if that is what happened instead of a power trip mentality. God weeps---

You don't know what you are talking about. You are confusing spurious writings with canonical writings. There are thousands of early Biblical documents that agree 99.5+%. No material is missing or has been removed. In the less that 1/2% that does not agree, there is nothing doctrinally at stake.
The Catholic Church officially added the Apocryphal books to their 'Bible' at the council of Trent about 400 years ago, but they were never part of the Bible.

why did men take parts of it out and water it down...
that is the free agency of men and they will do what they will...
might I add that the Apocrypha is NOT part of the Canonized books with the exception of the Catholic Church...nobody else accepts it.
it was mainly the Catholic church taking out what didn't fit in their beliefs...also noteworthy...the reason for the greatest illiteracy in the world is that the Catholic church would not allow their parishoners to read the Bible...they had to trust their "Fathers", Friars and Cardinals...
as far as knowing what conforms to God's will and what doesn't..find out what the Stick of judah and the Stick of Joseph are....The Stick of Joseph confirms the words of the Stick of Judah completely so that you will know what God's will and what is not..
and that God is the God of Jacob, Isaaque and Abraham...
btw..If Joseph Smith added to the Bible...then please explain ALL of the scriptures IN the Bible after...Deuteronomy 4:2...
"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."
Revelations 22:18 is convenient for Christians in that it is in the last book...but the problem is...is that the Epistles and Books of the New Testament are NOT in chronological order and scripture historians would agree with me...

Some people do try finding old manuscripts to find more of what may have been lost. But, the main purpose of the Bible is to show that ALL people sin and to point them to Jesus and a personal relationship with God. So, what may have been removed or lost may not have hindered the main purpose. But, it does give rise to Dissensions among people, both Christian and Non-Christian.

The Cannon was closed forever in 405 A.D. by the Catholic Church. Luhter committed evil by throwing out books from the word of God. Joseph Smith committed evil by adding books, to the Bible.

The love of money, and following the part of least resistance is the reason why the bible as incomplete is accepted and defended by christians world wide.

I think the Fundamentalist Christian right wing fanatics believe every word. They also twist it to suit their needs.
Men took parts out and watered it down to suit their own needs back in those days, as happens in present day.
