immagrationlaw pertaining to the conviction and/or appeal of a five piont felony; any loopholes?

my husband(an immagrant having citizen status,but not a passport) was wrongly convicted of a class five felony,and is being incarcerated until appeal or deportation. I need to know how to get him out and avoid deportation

Don't get you? If he is a citizen, he can't be deported ...

How do you know that he was wrongly convicted? I hope there are no loop holes for real criminals.
