Just because you leave your state doesn't mean you have to become a resident there. I've been living in a different state than my family for 4 years now. I have my own apartment and my own bills. Bills are on credit and it doesn't mean you have to stay there. So you have a water or a cable bill. When you want to move back to your home state where your family is you pay it off and you move. Having bills in another state doesn't mean your whole life has to stay there. After college I'm planning on moving to another state completely but I probably won't become a resident there. That's why there's mail forwarding so you can change your address and your mail can be with you. Its really not as hard as your making it.

Having roommates lowers you bills.....BIG time. The farther away from home you go, the harder it may be to find roommates that you know and trust......unless you are a student, then it's easier.

You need at least a FEW of the bills in a shared apartment to be in your name....they make good credit references, later. Be very careful when you sign a lease....either alone or with someone else. It can be difficult to plan for all of the bad things that can happen with a lease for an apartment.

Move wherever there are good jobs and good educational opportunities..... if it's away from home then DO IT.

Save at least 15-25% of your income..... put it in the bank. DON"T spend it on anything but a down-payment of a house.

I would suggest moving about 1 hour away from your parents..any direction. Enough distance to ensure your mom won't be coming over when you're gone..rummaging through your underwear drawer..and close enough that you can visit them as often as you like.

It all depends if your parents are providing you with funds or if you have a source of income that will cover your cost of living.

Stay home as long as the parents will let you... It sucks out there on your own!

I am not sure what you are asking.
It can be expensive to own your own place, yes.
