Shelby, Montana it is a nice little small town just about 25 miles from the Canadian border and is beautiful, I lived there for about 4 years and if I could, I would go back there forever. It is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Winter usually starts in late September or early October and lasts until mid March or so.

You mean you can just take off for the whole Winter to any place on earth? Go to Iceland the country then. It is the nost magical cold winter destination in the world. It is NOT in the Arctic as some people think. Bring loadsa dollars.

If you DO have to work for a living try applying to ICELAND the company for a job in their cold stores. The temperature is held down at minus 20 and you can get work as a frok-lift operator or a packer. There's loads of overtime but they won't let you sleep over.

You would have to sleep and in in ambient air temperature. Would that be OK and do I get the ten points?

if you also like it more or less exotic, why not try the Russian Siberia. Winters there are famous for its longetivity and coldness but also for their beauty. E.g. the temperatures in Verkhoyansk in Siberia during last January stayed close to 100 degrees below zero. Another place would be Oymyakon, they have it cold enough there too.
But apart of the tough temperatures, you can find very nice villages with interesting traditions and beautiful nature in Siberia and generally in the North of Russia.
People are very welcoming too, so you might make some nice and unique experiences.

Why not try Michigan, we have winter anywhere as early as October and as late as March. Of course some years winter is shorter, others it is not, and in Michigan you arent as cut off from the world like Alaska, no offense.

Our weather here is pretty much unpredictable. I would say forecasters in Michigan are only about 45% correct in their forcasting because Michigan is in such a location that the weather can change at the drop of a hat.

I lived in Michigan until I was 19 years old. If you love long winters, you will love Michigan. I've seen it snow as early as October and as late as April. Michigan should be high on your list for places to live or visit during the winter.
