It's from the Proclamation on the Family, issued by the prophet and apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in (I think) September 1995.

I agree with it entirely and wholeheartedly. What a wonderful heritage and promise we have!

I do not agree with that statement:

"In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters..."

That is insisting that we are eternal creatures and we clearly are not. No one is eternal except for God. We had a beginning. That beginning was with Adam. Adam's beginning came when he was created out of dust and dirt. When God made him into existence (keyword, not just "begotten" or "manifested in the body"), he also gave him a soul, not "sent a sole to his body."

"..gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection..."

There is only perfection in Heaven. There's nothing short of perfect. When we die, we will be made perfect, God is perfect, the angels are perfect, without sickness, illness, and sin.

"realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life"

This would contradict itself before because before "premortal realm" they already existed eternally and therefore had eternal life. So what would be the point of having an earthly experience? To be made perfect, but, as previously stated, there's only perfection in heaven.

I don't agree with that statement.

Thanks,

Curtis

I don't know what Bible you are looking at, but thats not Jeremiah 1:4-5, this is:

Jeremiah 1 (New International Version)
4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew [a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

I applaud you for thinking outside of the box, but be Careful not to allow the mind tO be deceived (I am not agreeing or disagreeing). ReM.ember, Satan was there in the "premortal realm" as you've phrased it, but no one but God knows and can reveal such a thing to you; Satan too can bring forth demonic revelations. And I must say that if God has been attempting to reveal such utterances to you it is most definitely not to be solicited out in such a Way. The word of the Lord Is like precious pearls. And Jesus warned to noT throw your pearls to the swiNe. SEek counSel in the S_pirit of God for more 1 elaborations on this question, not @YAHOO! Answers. Study the scriptures unbiastly and find the foundation on which this has .COMe to you.

If you assume that men always existed originally as spirits then later they wanted to acquire additional knowledge by dipping them self into matter, or have physical body to gain more experiences to progress into perfection; and that this is what is currently going on now and we await the end of this phase in our endless existence to start another phase, then you would oppose the Holy Bible on the concept of sin, which necessitated God himself to take a human body and offer himself as a sacrifice for Man's sin. Obviously, your statement totally contradicts the Bible and therefore can't be accepted, but its a nice way to see the everlasting existence of mankind.

I agree, we were in our spirit bodies before this earth age, and will be again in the next earth age.

I don't believe, however, that the only purpose for taking on a flesh body is to progress toward perfection, but also to give us a taste of Satan's system so that when we make our choice of whom to follow at the end of the millenial reign of Yahshua, we will have made it from a fair and balanced experience from both sides and can make our choice based on total freewill.

Not what the scripture says that you quoted. Jer. 1:4-5 says, "Then the wrod of the Lord came to me saying: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; and I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

Now how does your statement line up with what the scripture says? this is talking about Jeremiah, not any spirit sons or daughters as you say. All it is saying is that God knew about Jeremiah before he was ever born and he was to be a prophet before he was ever thought of by his parents. We have eternal life only if we accept Jesus as our Saviour and do His will in our lives.

I agree completely. What people don't understand is that is what us Latter-Day Saints are teaching when we talk about how we are children of God and we too can become a God/ Goddess or "divine destiny as an heir of eternal life"

This sounds like a new-age distortion of the Jeremiah passage. Wiccan? Scientologist? You know, tampering with God's Word is very unwise.
