There is always away... $400 a month is really expensive... she could hire a local teen to look after the youngin for like $2 or 3 bucks an hour. Help her out... some local churches and community centers have babysitting lists of qualified responcible teens so its easy for people to find them. (that's how i got baby sitting jobs as a kid) Also these places may have daycare for cheeper prices. Do some research for her or maybe... you guys have a nother friend who works alternate hours and also needs someone to watch their little one... People find things to do all the time... And there are programs all over the place to help out...
here are a few sites that should help ya get started
Good luck

Staying in the house with the doors locked? there is windows. Bugulars can get through there. They find a way. Seeing that there is no one comeing out of the house for a while. 4. how will she cook or somthing to eat? 5. What if she cut her self and bleeds????? there is so much stuff to concider. Why cant you just call a close friend, a relitive, or someone next door u TRUST. Just please dont leave a child alone for more then a couple of hours if there still 9 mature or not. never know. Thats just what i think, I am starting my own childday care busniess. And i really belive you should do that there is someone out there that is whilling to watch ur child. Better be safe then sry and not have ur kid anymore. Think of ur kid before your self. Sorry if that sounded mean but its true. 400 hundred a month for day care. there are others that are cheaper look around. just look around i would love to help just dont leave her alone. i just think if u do u will regret it. Im willing to help!

You need to tell your friend that she should NOT leave her 9y/o home alone this summer. I don't care how mature he is - he is still only 9 and that means he is prone to do 9y/o things - he might be mature but he is still niave and by no means old enough to be home alone.
If she can't afford daycare - has she tried talking to family members or friends about watching him while she works? What about some local teenage girls that would babysit for cheap? Leaving him home alone shouldn't be an option - he could burn the house down, hurt himself, anything could happen - and if it did she would never forgive herself.

Well the child is to young to be alone period what will she do if he tries to feed him self and just ends up burning the house and ends up dying like so many other cases can't she take him with her or leave him with some family It is very dangerous and think about child protective services she will loose her child in a heart beat will all be worth it I don't think so...

Does dhe have any family or close trustworthy friends who he can stay with? Shoot, I am 19 and my family is cautios about letting me stay on campus for school because I am not with someone 24/7. Tell your friend that this is against the law because he is a minor and the summer is 3 months long. I mean, how old is she and where are her values?

It is against the law but, even more importantly than that he is at the age where he needs an adult with him when crucial decision making time comes. You don't want him to become bored and have idle time on his hands. My son was mature too....it's the other kids that you have to worry about.
if the burgular alarm does happen to get set off.........who is contacted....usually the police and they would contact protective services.

absolutely not. that is considered as child endangerment. there are so many wonderful organizations that will provide reasonable daycare. tell her to seek some help with payment before she makes a mistake and ends up having to spend money for a lawyer when she wants to get her son back from the courts.

nine years is too young to be left alone, plus it is against the law,
a child has to be 12 yrs old before you can leave them alone.
the mother could go to jail and loose custody of her child.
find a teenager that you can trust. you dont have to pay very much to a teenager, or find a family member to take care of him. or put him in a summer camp program... it can be free if you dont make that much money
