Don't take diet pills this is not great advice from a parent.
If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit.
Here are the golden rules:
Initially cut down to 1200 calories women & 1500 men
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions. No gym involved.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices
All food choices need to be low fat
Don't make food a big deal and don't socialise using food
Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - multigrain sandwich w 50g tuna/lean meat & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt OR skim berry smoothie (no honey or banana) plenty of ice, 1/2 cup skim milk & 1/4 cup yogurt
Dinner 5.30pm - 120g-150g grilled lean meat/fish/prawns/tofu patties (not fried) w spinach salad & mixed vegies (no whites, carbs) OR 3 egg white/soy omlette with ham, cheese and tomato
Snack - 1 scoop of low cal low fat ice cream (if hungry)
Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.
Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.
To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 women & 1800 men and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 cal and 6 sessions again.
Good luck it worked for me it can work for anyone.

You aren't fat! Being 129lbs at 16 is fine. It's the negative attitudes of the people around you that is the problem! Try this routine and work into it slowly:
Use some 10lbs dumbbells to work your biceps. Do like 3 sets of 25-50reps Mon, Wed, Fri or Tues, Thurs, Sat. Get yourself a good jump rope too and use it daily for around 10-30 minutes. Do the following program of bodyweight exercises everyday.
Hindu Squats
Hindu Push-Ups
Back Bridge
Try to go 25-50 hindu squats with the goal of 500 eventually.
Try for 25 straight Hindu Push Ups with the goal of 100-200 eventually.
Go for a 30 second Back Bridge with the goal of reaching 3 minutes.
For a detailed explaination of these exercises go to www.bodybuilding.com and do a search. Or purchase the book Combat Conditioning at www.mattfurey.com .
For your abs do 3 sets of 50-100 crunches daily.
For your biceps get two 10lbs dumbbells and do 3 sets 20-50 reps three days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri or Tues, Thurs, Sat). You can get the dumbells from a sporting goods store like Dunhams or Sportauthority.
You can also buy the book Body For Life by Bill Phillips.
I used to have asthma and I outgrew it and became the strongest kid in my highschool. I also could do massive cardio and wrestling at the same time. So don't give up hope sweetheart! Trust God.
When I lost almost 40lbs in highschool I rode a stationery bike for 45 to an hour 5 days a week. You may have to use different methods.
Try some of this out and see if it helps! God bless you! You are beautiful because you are made in God's image!

You are not fat for your height. For a 5'1" female you should weigh anywhere between 106 and 140 depending on your body frame size. You fall right in the middle considering you are of medium build. I suggest walking, swimming or biking (make sure you keep your inhaler with you) and resistance training to strengthen and tone your muscles. This will make you look sleeker.
Also, stop with the diet pills and diet tea. If you don't know what's in them they could be dangerous. Watch out for ingredients such as ephedra, pseudo-ephedrine and mah huang among others.
In my opinion, I think your mom is being unrealistic. How do YOU feel about yourself? You're 16 and should be able to make your own descisions about your body. If you think your wieght is am issue then you should consult your doctor and he or she can help you lose weight safely. Good luck and best wishes.

This can be easily done with a change of diet and exercise. Try dropping all sweets and fried greasy foods. Also bike riding and walking for exercise. If you have a walking track near your home start walking each day...walking is much easier on your legs than running. Keep to your program, also avoid drinking power drinks such as Gatorade and so forth...they all contain a lot of sugar and sodium. If you have a treadmill try walking on that. I use both my treadmill and stationary bike 5 days a week.
Also remember that it takes time before your weight loss will show, but if you stick with this program you will lose weight.
This is what has worked for me!
Best of luck to you!
Also when you get hungry in-between meals instead of eating junk food eat fresh veggies with low cal ranch dressing, this will fill you up and with very few calories.

the basic rules to losing weight are no soda, no fast food, lots of chicken, fish, fresh (not canned that’s bad) fruits and vegies, whole wheat stuff, yogurt. Not so many cakes and donuts and cookies. Basic common sense for eating, you just need to enforce it. Get all the bad stuff out of the house right away, just toss it or give it away while your still motivated. No alcohol and no smoking if that applies. Some juice but make sure its all natural, because the ones that aren't are loaded with sugar and a leading cause in diabetes in children and adults. Lots of water, 3-4 liters a day, not all at once, but spread it out. Its really easy to down a liter or two while your watching tv or on the computer. Also drink some after you eat the bigger meals of the day, it helps your body pick out the nutrients in food when your food is more spread apart. You also need to stay away from any sports drinks unless you’ve just had a long workout and then you need to limit yourself. Most atheletes mix Gatorade with water because its two complex for your body to get all the nutrients out of. It needs to be diluted. These rules may be hard to adapt to at first so start with cutting out the things you know you can live without. Then work from there. Remember these are perfect eating habits, it can take you a while to work into it. If you know you can’t live without your one treat a day, don’t fight it by trying to eat something else, just eat it and make sure that’s the only one you cheat on a day. Otherwise you’ll get depressed and quit. Another important point is getting the right amount of sleep every night. You need 8-9 hours of sleep each night for your body to function correctly. This is an important factor of losing weight. Set up a routine for yourself and go to bed at about the same time each night.
As for exercise, lots of cardio. Find something you like. If you have never exercised much before, start with walking 30 minutes a day at a brisk pace. Move on to different terrains that include hills and increase the time spent. After a week or two, try jogging the route. No matter what find an activity you enjoy. Walking to jogging is just an example, try hiking, rollerblading, biking. Once you get into a regular routine, if your not happy with the level of difficulty, try signing up with a gym. Spinning, pilates or kickboxing classes are great. It will also introduce you to working with weights. Talk to a trainer for instruction before using any weights. A cheap investment is a balance ball, it works you stomach while your just sitting on it, like at your computer and its great for posture. There are hundreds of exercises you can use it for for your entire body. I can give you some ideas if you want, just email me. Also for more info on the benefits of water go to www.watercure.com Good Luck! Honestly if you need anything else don't hesitate to IM me, krista_girl86 even if you don't pick me as best answer, i'd be happy to help. Also check out the website for the tv show The Biggest Loser on NBC. There are many, many helpful facts on there.

God made you perfect the way you are. You may not like it, & your family & friends may tease you, but when He sees you he sees pure beauty.
I understand though that you would like to be happy with you. Firstly, do your "I Love Me!" homework... I learned this from a wise friend of mine. It may be extremely corny, but it works. Every morning when you get up, finda mirror & say allowed to the mirror while looking at yourself,"I love me!" Do it as many times as you need.
Secondly, instead of eating 3 big meals a day, eat 7 small meals a day. Snack at all times, but not with junk food. Eat lots of protein, fruit, vegetables, meats, breads, etc. If you have a craving for some chocolate... eat some chocolate, just don't eat a half a pound. Try sharing half a hershey bar with a friend if you want some chocolate or "give them a break" of that Kit-Kat bar.
Thirdly, keep up the exercising. You don't have to jog 2 miles a day. Try jogging for 10 minutes & then doing some sit-ups when you get back.
Lastly, have confidence in yourself. I know you can get through it.

I'm sorry you feel so strongly about this and that it burdens you. I way the same as you, am around your age, and believe me its NOT overweight. If fact, being 100 lbs at age 16 would be UNHEALTHY. You should weigh 120-140, I think.
Are you really "fat?" Are you "fat" by magazine standards, or by health standards? REALLY examine this before you go charging off to starve yourself. You MUST ask your doctor if you are overweight. If you are not, then still ask your doctor about HEALTHY ways to lose weight.
If you are honestly pudgy, then i would ask a doctor. There may be nothing you can do, so try and make your largerness into an open thing. Don't get upset when people memntion it, make a joke and move on. Be bold- once people get to know you they stop noticing what you are wearing, or who you are. ITs strangers who are hardest to deal with!
Your family should not be saying this to you. Sit down and talk to them about being supportive!
Ask your doctor, who can be trusted to help you out. Or your school nurse if she/he is nice.

Sounds like you are interested in losing weight more than being healthy. Do you use inhalers for your asthma? Maybe running just isn't for you... Try something you enjoy like dancing, biking, playing a sport like volleyball, etc.
Also, talk to your parents (if they cook family meals) about possibly adding more fruits and vegetables to the family diet. The more fiber you get, the more you will poop and therefore clean out your body of harmful fats. Just don't overdo the fiber, because it can cause some digestive discomfort.
