Premarital sex can be dangerous in that it can - without your intention - become the basis of your relationship. How much do you love each other? The vast majority of people who engage in premarital sex don't stay together. Also, sex ought to be the complete giving of yourself to another person, the union of two into one. Yet if you aren't willing to be married, then there's obviously still some hesitation.

Exodus 20 says you should not commit adultery, which is the same thing and covers fornication also, sex before marriage. REvelation 21:8 says those that practice it will not be in Heaven. If you really love one another, why can't you wait for that special time when it is totally legal and good? Do you think you are that much in love that you just can't wait? That is not love, it is lust!! Love will wait but lust just can't wait for anything. Don't think marriage will happen later down the line with the one you are doing it with. If you already have the milk, why buy the cow? Takes maturity to wait for the special day with that special someone. Any animal can go breed with anything that comes along. That is what separates us from animals, the ability to wait and make an intelligent decision about it. Although some I wonder if they are the real animals. There are many places that state it is wrong to have sex before marriage. Check the site below and you can find any and all of them. Just put in the keyword, fornication.

The scripture references have already been given, but I think the case against pre-marital sex is a no-brainer. Here's a rundown of just a few of the reasons it is sensible to avoid sex outside marriage.

1. Zero risk of STDs including HIV/AIDS
2. Much lower risk of certain cancers, including cervical
3. Certainty of parentage of children
4. Guarantee of no pregnancy outside marriage
5. Respect for your body - it is something precious which you share only with someone you know to be committed to you
6. No comparisons with other lovers
7. Marriage is a freedom rather than a restriction
8. No risk of feeling "used" when he abandons you after sex.
9. Knowing that the person loves and respects you enough to marry you
10. Knowing that your relationship is not just based on lust.
11. No jealousy of your spouse's past lovers

Personally I could never be intimate with someone physically if I wasn't already intimate with them emotionally. I am getting married in August and really looking forward to sex with my new husband. It will be so special precisely because it will set a bond on our relationship and seal our marriage, and I will never have to feel that he is wistful for another girl, or comparing me with anyone else. He's all mine. How many people can say that?

The bible is contradictory on the subject, as it is with all things.

According to the bible, God had sex with Mary and not only were they not married, she was married (or engaged, d.o.i.) to another man.

Abraham & Isaac both prostituted their wives.

And Lot had sex with his daughters.

Obviously, the bible isn't opposed to sexual relations outside of marriage at all.

To answer your question, there are several references to "fornication" in the New Testament and that is the basis most Christians use to claim sexual relations outside of marriage is a sin. Totally ignoring the other stories that don't support that claim.

I wish I could tell you where, (maybe in Corinthians) where it talks about marriage. It does say cleave unto one (which would be a spouse). and if you are messing around, then you wouldn't be able to just be with one, if the marriage didn't happen. Of course if the husband were to die the bible says the brother-in-law is responsible. I hope that isn't literal. Just we are all brothers and should look after widows. punished? That's not our job, that's God's, it's in the Bible also, just do as you would have other do unto you.....

i imagine the in reality area that talks about sex in detail comes from Paul. that child replaced right into a pervert. He replaced into obsessed on sex, forbidding some thing that presented exhilaration or in any respect distracted from the religious slavery provided by ability of Christianity. yet then this can be a guy who killed Christians. Oh, and he never met Jesus both. looks kinda unusual thinking he wrote many of the recent testomony.

Depends on how you view "adultery" do you think it's only a married person cheating? I view adultery as having sex with a person you are not married to. It's also called fornication. It is a gift God gave us for two purposes: To create life and to express love between a married man and woman. David commited adultery in the bible and was not married...

I agree completely with you. If I love somebody how I can possible go without expressing my physical affection for them. I personally agree with a lot of what the Bible says but I disagree with that one rule- if it's even in the bible at all.

How about don't covet thy neighbors wife plus there is the story of sodom and Gemorrah where sex was free and continual (as well as a few other things). Weren't these places wiped out?
