Your pup probably has some seperation anxiety. Don't suddenly stop being there when she eats. maybe start out by hand feeding her a couple peices of food, then leve the room for like a minute, come back and when she eats when you come back, praise her for eating. Then leave for a little longer like a minute and a half, when she eats when you come back praise her. Eventually, she will realize you are not abandoning her, and feel like eating on her own. She is probably worried if she takes her focuse off of you, you won't come back.
They are sensitive and intellegent creatures, and the more we understand about the, the more rewarding our relationships with them can be!!

Do you eat before or after your dog? Sometimes really submissive dogs will only eat after their master or the alpha (lead dog if there is another dog in the house) eats first. Otherwise, just go about your business- take the food up if not eaten within 10 minutes and try again at next feeding. FYI- the best book I know of about dog behavior is "The Monks of New Skeete". My breeder recommended it to me and it really helped me. I found it at my local library.

Um, how long do you wait?

Put the food out, the dog will eat it when he gets hungry enough. It might take a few days. Change it daily. You wouldn't want to eat stale food either.

dont put the dog on the table because thats just nasty. Just get a big stuffed animal and put beside the food bowl. that will allow something to stare at the puppy while it eats.

I knew a woman whose cat wouldn't eat unless she was petting it. She finally stopped and the cat got so hungry that she ate anyhow. I think your dog wants your attention and that's how she's going about it.

u shoud just train her to learn to eat without you. thats the same thing that was happening with my dog so i use to tie him up to his leash and let him eat by himself, i told him "the sooner you learn to eat without me the sooner i'll take you off of your leash" and so in a couple of days he began to eat by himself with out me! YES!
