Once your dog has eaten, or woken up take it outside until it does something. Reward your dog for this and it will soon learn.

At 8 weeks old your puppy has no control over his/her bladder. It's actually too soon for the puppy to be removed from his mother and sibblings. Recent research conducted on German Sheppherds proved that it was better for the pups to remain with their mum and sibblings until they're 10 weeks old however ... Most people take on 8 weeks old puppies and will continue to do so because they don't know!
Take your puppy in your own bak garden but do not let it mix with other dogs until he/she/s been fully innoculated (Don't forget the 15 days period following injection when your pyuppy must still keep away from other dogs)
Take your puppy regularly, once he/she's had a drink or something to eat. When your puppy does something praise him/her. make a fuss of him/her and when he/she soils the house, say a firm 'No' take what he/she did outside and put it there. Wait until puppy does something then praise him/her.
If your circumstances mean that you need to use paper trianing then make a point of moving the paper closer to the door each day so that puppy will soon learn that his/her toilets are outside.
It shouldn't take long as most puppies respond well but you need to show your puppy that you're in control! He/she cannot simply determine when it's cuddle time. If you keep a supply of little treats in your pocket, reward your puppy whenevr he/she does well, and ignore bad behaviour (Ignore puppy) he/she will learn fast and you'll both enjoy your life together.
Congratulations on your new puppy and best wishes
Ros

the best thing is to train them to go outside. u can train them to go on paper, but then u have to train them again to go out and it makes the whole process twice as long. the best thing to do is to take the puppy out every half an hour and after feeding, drinking, sleeping and playing for it to 'go'. when the puppy goes, praise it straight away and praise it alot. say good boy/girl and the word u use for going like toilet or wee wee etc and really praise it alot. if it goes indoors, dont say a word, dont shout or scold the pup, just clean the area well. be very patient and consistant and dont forget to take it out befor bedtime. all pups are different, some learn very quick and some take a little longer but u will get there in the end.

Can I please recommend you get these booklets as soon as possible?
The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors is the best source of behavioural training info in the U.K.
You don't rub a puppies face in it. You just end up with a miserable puppy. If you did that to a baby you'd have social services on your doorstep. You don't ever potty train a baby with punishment, stress or fear.
Your puppy is not psychic and has no way of knowing where it is you do want him to go. You have to show him and reward him. Make him a dog loo in the yard, take him there frequently and wait for him. Reward him when he uses it.

put paper all about the floor, then day by day take some away, remember to praise him if he does it on the paper, or place him on it.Continue this untill there is only one piece of paper left, this should be the one nearest the door then when he always uses it take it away and he should whine to get out , oh and remember to take him out as well during this training.

do'nt paper train. It's easier just to take them out for toilet every hour, after meals and naps. If you go out, put the pup in a crate with a comfy blanket, water and a toy to keep him occupied. It should be large enough to stand, sit and turnaround cofortably. The pup won't mess in its bed so take it out for toilet as soon as you get back. it will be trained in no time. My two were toilet trained in two weeks with this method. Good luck

its easier to use puppy house training pads they are scented and the puppy will go straight to them,i trained my puppy with them, you can get them in Argos if your in the UK,they are £9.99 for 30,but there really good, they absorb and they have plastic backs so no leaking they also stop the smells. have alook on the Argos website www.Argos.co.uk just type in puppy pads in the search bar on the argos website.if your not in the UK I'm sure your local pet shop will have them or could get you some, good luck with the training.

Just train her to go outside as it is more work to have to pick-up after the dog.
