I am having this procedure done on wednesday next, I have considerable weight to lose and wondered what it was like for anyone who has had it done? I will be having the open surgery as opposed to the keyhole method and wonder if anyone has had this particular type of surgery? Also what type of diet will I be on after surgery? What are the pitfalls of this procedure?

Your doctor should have prepared you fully for this procedure, including meeting with other patients who have gone through it. I was considering this surgery and I was able to meet with a lot of people and hear their stories, see pictures, and look at their meal plans.

Before you have that drastic surgery, consider this.
My wife took a couple of pills years ago that were prescribed for her, and they KILLED her esophagus!
She suffer from it for nearly ten years with gas upset every night. Painful gas that nearly killed her at times.
She started taking FLAX SEED meal mixed with an orange drink and the gas has gone away in just three days.
It's available in boxes from Kroger at a bit over $2.00 a box.
It's good for a lot of things, like heart troubles, and great to kill the appetite for dieting. Has a nutty flavor

GAstric Bypass Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all kinds of obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your gastric bypass surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

My cousin got her gastric bypass surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 30 % of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.she has already lost 65 lbs in 5 months.hope this helps

NO,I've never had it done, but, one chick at my work did it. She lost tons of weight. She looks conceited to began with so I've never asked her if it sucked. But I heard you have to be on a LOT of meds for your stomach.

If it was me, I would lose it the hard way- MOST people who does it the easy way- ALWAYS gains it back. no lesson learned. I lost my 46 pounds the hard way. I was fat for my height.

Good luck.
