My neighbors dogs are about 20 ft from my bedroom window. Many nights the dogs bark and keep me awake. The pin which they are in is between MY privacy fence and their house. We have asked them numerous times to do something. Once they moved them to the other side of their trailer but they moved them back shortly. We have threatened to call the cops but they would not do anything even if we did (we already checked). What should we do? Some of them are muts and some are pit bulls.

It is not that the barking is the main problem, it is that we have asked them to move them and they have ample space. there is no reason that the pin has to be right by our property. We do not even live "in-town." Some nights it is a regular bark but some times it is almost a whine or some weird sound. There is trash all in their yard (which is being taken care of via health department) and also 2 unused trailers. Some dogs are chained to concrete blocks and enclosed in a pin. The dogs have already make a hole in the bottom of our fence to escape. It is just ridiculous for us to hear it when I think they work nights. Thanks for the advise.

I don't know where you live but from 10p.m.-7a.m. in this area a barking dog/dogs who won't quit are disturbing the peace and it is a cops job to speak with the owners and write a ticket if complaints continue to come in.
When they start in barking again call the police and hold the phone so the police can hear the racket and tell them you demand it be stopped.
If they refuse to respond get a tape recorder and turn it on in your bedroom recording the barking until the tape stops and take the tape to the states attorney and file a complaint against the neighbors as well as the police.

Well last time I Checked dogs are supposed to bark. I know this is annoying though. Got some dogs around here that do it. Its got nothing to do with them being mutts or pitt bulls though. Contacting animal control may be your best bet. I am not sure what they can do though since dogs do bark and its their nature to bark if something catches their attention. Get some ear plugs or something like that maybe that will work. Good luck though.

There is a plant called Mother-in-Law Tongue. Squish the juice out, put it on chicken and feed it to them. It paralizes their vocal cords. But, it's only temporary. Next, get an air horn. Sit outside around 1 a.m.ish.When the dogs bark, blow said horn. That oughta be fun for a few nites. Next, throw lots of late nite parties til they agree to move their bundles of joy.

contcat animal welfare in your area (like an SPCA) and keep making complaints. just mention that they may be abusing their animals because you can hear them barking all the time, animal welfare will probably investigate. happened to me once, animal welfare showed up at my door and asked if i was abusing my dog cause when he was outside all day when i was at school he would howl... after that he got to stay inside. if animal welfare is a dead ened get a large squirt gun and fill it with water and a small (like a tbsp) of vinager... aim straight for the face of the dogs, they won't like it and hopefully will learn that when the bark you'll shoot them with water, just make sure the squirtgun can shoot over 20ft :)

It sounds like you are in an urban area. You should be able to file a noise complaint. Depending on the area, the police may handle it or code enforcement. Call the city offices and tell them your problem - they should be able to tell you the procedure for noise complaints.

give them some strong sleeping pills in their water a little earlier in the day(while your neighbor is gone) and you and the dogs will get a good night rest!
