Why dont they attack alcohol too instead of just cigarettes? Last time i checked alcohol isnt good for you either and alcohol is a poisonous substance that you could actually die from if you drink too much at one time. You cant die in one day if you smoke too many cigarettes at once now can you. Every 5 minutes theres an anti smoking commercial and yet theres no commercials saying alcohol is bad, they actually advertise thats it good you know with that bacardi commerical where everyone is having so much fun and everything and the music is all happy with the bottle of bacardi flying through the air so majesticly and yet no one mentions the damage to the liver, pancreas, kidneys, increased risk of some cancers and drunk driving deaths. We already know smoking is bad so why do they have to keep shoving it in everyones face? Its my body and i could do whatever i want with it. So if there so obsessed with health its a little suspicious that they never say anything about alcohol

Drinking in moderation won't hurt you, they say it might even be good for you. Yet any amount of nicotine will hurt your lungs over time.

Excellent question. It seems like every other commercial is about some form of alcohol. Never really got into it,don't care for the taste. I can't stand cigarettes either. I guess it's like a friend of mine said, the country's full of hypocrites and the media contains the most!

Smoking kills you slowly and can make those around you sick as well. Alcohol does not usually directly kill you, though it does often kill others. IE drunk drivers. I think the problem is that the tobacco companies spend so much money advertising and trying to convince people that the bad claims are false. Alcohol is not over advertised and there is no denial by the sellers as to the effects of alcohol. I would also have to say there is much more animosity between smokers and no smokers than there is between drinkers and non drinkers.

Good question. Both are dangerous to not only the people that does the drinking or smoking but its also bad or could be bad to those around them. Someone should start making more anti drunk driving ads.

I am only answering this because I need 2 points to get to level 2. Much of the shouting about smoking is about smoking in the general public and at work. Drinking is already restricted to certain areas (bars, restaurants, home, etc.) and the anti-smokers are trying to use the same anal methods to restrict smoking.

Because the states sued the tobacco industry and got gobs of billions of dollars and the settlement required each state to use the money to run anti smoking campaigns

You got a petition? I'll sign it. Alcohol kills a lot more people through "second hand action" than second hand smoke. At least I can smoke and drive a car, operate dangerous machinery and not kill some innocent person, and I don't puke on my shoes! or anyone elses shoes for that matter!

Because no one has sued the alcohol industry like they have the tobacco industry. The only reason all those commercials by tobacco companies are on is because of judgements made forcing them to make them.

There used to be no alcohol commercials on T.V.. Then someone (who knows) decided it would be o.k., as long as there were some sort of warning..example: "Drink Responsibly" (in little itty-bitty letters at the bottom of the screen.

The liquor industry is strong in america & in congress. Not as strong as it once was, DUI laws were passed! Tobacco was once strong too but it ain't no more! In congress it ain't what you know it's 'who you know,' and who you take out for a drink friday night! Always been this way & prolly always will be!
