the basics: i breastfeed and now supplementing w/ formula once or twice a day to get him used to it (and he likes it/takes bottle well). I'm not sure how much breastmilk he would eat, becuz i haven't pumped it into a bottle for awhile now - it was 3-4oz at a time, but that was probably a month ago. He'll eat 6oz of formula now, with no problem.
i bf him usually @ 10pm. wakes between 1 and 3am to eat - then wakes again between 7-8:30am to eat again -goes back to sleep for maybe an hour 1/2.

MY QUESTION: lastnight my husband fed him 6oz formula at 8pm - we put the baby in the swing and he fell asleep - i left him in the swing until 10pm, i took him out of the swing, layed him in the crib, he was awake but drowsy, put himself to sleep, woke up at 1:30am - he did not eat much - went back to sleep until 7am - ate 2oz - and slept until 10am - and awake until 3pm. - doesnt seem like he is as interested in eating but sleeping more - but he's happy, cooing-no fever and bright eyed -a faze?

If he wants to sleep, let him sleep. Breathing is normal and he doesn't seem lathargic, then let him rest. Babies that are breast fed and have formula later on, tend to sleep more. When my daughter was 2 months old, I had to have surgery and couldn't breast feed for a day. We fed her formula, and she literally slept ALL day. Depending on how old your baby is, he might not be interested in breast feeding anymore.

It depends on how old he is and the weather. If its hot out they usually don't eat as much. My granddaughter is just now 6 months and she eats less than what she used too. My daughter has started adding cereal in her bottle at night before bedtime and she will sleep sometimes all night until 7 am.

It sounds like maybe you are not producing enough milk. What I had to do with my daughter was, I would first breast feed her in the evening then we would give her a bottle. She didn't have to have much of the bottle but it was just enough to fill her up and let her sleep longer at night.

Are you waking up your baby at night to feed him? I have 30 week old triplets. I have to wake them up every 4 hours to feed them for the first year. I was told that since they were premies that if they went for longer than 5 hours w/out not eating that they would lose weight.

Sounds like he is just ready to go a little longer without needing anything. Formula seems to stay with them longer.

How old is the baby? He is probably just growing. He will let you know if something is wrong! Good luck!

Babies go thru' growth spurts...when this happens he will be more hungry. He is content, happy, sleeping ok....don't worry. If you're really concerned have your doctor check him over, but he sounds perfectly normal to me.

Sounds weird coming from a guy but I went through this with my wife with our first child.

Your child will tell you when he/she is hungry. Don't worry about it.
