October is a fine time of year to travel there- it is the beginning of winter, so it can get cold, but the weather isn't too bad. There shouldn't be too may tourists then. All times of year have different benefits, and advantages. February is cold, but it's low tourist season so the prices are lower, and you can ski. April and may are beautiful but there are more people. August is very warm and when most people travel there, but it is terribly warm, the plane tickets are expensive, and there are many tourists.

Autumn is the perfect time to travel, so consider yourself a lucky-ducky! The tourists have mostly cleared out by that time of year and the weather has grown mild. I hope that you enjoy your stay. FYI: be sure to hit some on the non-touristy churches in Rome, you find a new favorite tour spot that is off the beaten path!

It's a fine time. Everything is open and there are fewer tourists, so prices will be lower than in the summer months. The weather in the north will be a bit chilly, but in the south it will still be fairly warm. You'll want to pack a few lightweight sweaters and a mid-weight coat, and no sandals!

Yes that's a great time as they weather won't be too hot then. Avoid August like the plague. It's incredibly hot. It does tend to rain a bit in Italy during any month so a light waterproof is advisable.

It's a good time...the tourists are mostly gone and you'll have the opportunity to really taste the local flavors and native feel for the countryside...
