It's not that God stopped communicating at all. It's our choice of words that we use to make reference to the occurances.

If the King James Bible, or any bible for that matter, says God spoke, we must consider the possiblity that they were talking about a communicated message that was sent as a thought and not specifically verbalized.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste but it is often not used to it's fullest potential. We seem to only want to know what we've already been taught by those whom we trust. Anything else is not accepted so easily.

Please note that if God is real, then all words are God's words. Therefore, your question and our answers came from and were delivered back to God. And you said God doesn't speak to people any more. Peace.

In the Old testament God was out and about. If you notice after the flood He doesn't often touch down anymore. He always represents himself as something that takes FAITH to speak back to. In the New Testament we meet Jesus the second Part of the Trinity. He was a physical manifestation of God. He ascended back to heaven after his Resurrection. He promised to send another messenger (the Holy Ghost/Spirit) We are living in the time with the Holy Spirit as our everyday interaction with God. The Holy Spirit doesn't' communicate as human beings do He touch your heart deep down. So God does speak to people directly just not in an actual speaking way.

The hand of God frightened a prophet by touching 16 stones to light up the boats. The hand of God.

Wouldn't you be absolutely terrified and awe-struck to know that a higher power had flesh-and-blood and could smite you? But you don't have to worry about that, cause God Loves you!!

There are living prophets. And he can't speak directly, because our eyes would have to be unveiled to Heavenly Father's holiness and perfection.

Gordon B. Hinkley is a prophet. And I love him and believe in his honesty.

God communicates with us all the time....it we who do not acknowledge or recognize the communication.

It could be your inner voice. It could be in the next words you read, song on the radio, event you witness, show or movie that you watch or the next person you meet.

You must be open to allowing communication from God.

Prayer and meditation are good ways to prepare for receiving communication. Just don't expect a "heavenly" voice to boom out from the sky. Or do, you just never know!

That's because we have stopped listening to Him. Here's an excerpt:

He let loose the two seas that they may meet together. Yet there stands between them a barrier, which they do not transgress.

So, O jinn and men, which manifestations of your Lord's power will you deny?

From these seas come out pearls and corals.
So, O jinn and men, which excellences of your Lord's power will you deny?

Source: (The Holy Quran Surat Ar-Rahmaan)
(verse 19 to 23)

You see...he's always speaking...are you really listening? Are you observing? Are you absorbing it in? He speaks to you in many ways...you just have to be receptive to understand...read the full Quranic chapter..it's full of God's bounties to man..the vicegerent of this Earth..or will you deny that too?

Some years ago, I was getting ready to travel to Poland on a short-term summer missionary trip. It occurred to me that maybe I ought to take some Bibles with me (it being an East bloc country and all - the communist government fell literally while we were there).

So anyway, I asked God how many Bibles I should take. Felt the answer in my heart: 'Six'. Very well, I went to the Bible Society outlet in New York and asked for six Polish Bibles. 'Oh,' they tell me, 'You are lucky we have them - we normally only get 10 of them in at a time, just got an order in yesterday.' So I snapped up my Bibles and flew off on my mission.

Got to the weeklong training in Germany, found out I was going to be in a team of 8 people - of whom two turned out to be Polish girls who already had their own Polish Bible, leaving... six who didn't. So I handed each person a Bible to use during the mission - most of them donated theirs to the Baptist Church afterward, I kept mine so I could use it to learn Polish. Still am using it to this day.

So, if it wasn't God who told me that the right number was six, how else would I have known? I couldn't have known it myself, and the only other option is the devil. And do you think the devil would be interested in my having just the right number of Bibles??? The devil would have preferred I not bring any at all!

Another story: a bit more recently, but still some years ago, I was friendly with a certain girl. And at a certain point I felt led to write her a long letter containing basically only Bible verses, explaining from A to Z the basics of spiritual warfare. Which I did. And she read it, and some weeks later I hear from her: 'You know, that letter you wrote to me spoke to me of matters you couldn't possibly have known anything about...'

Who do you think told me - God or the devil? Is the devil interested in people being taught how to successfully do battle with him? Is the devil interested in having people escape from his dominion by 'defecting' to the Kingdom of God? I think not...

This might also be a good moment for you to reconsider your idea that we are just talking monkeys, as it is written: And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him; male and female created He them.(1) Notice that it is God who created us in His image, NOT vice versa :-)

I believe he does. The difference is that he is now doing it through the Holy Spirit, so it is not as dramatic as it was in Biblical times.

I am thinking it may have something to do with the Ma Bell Breakups, and the long distance service? Maybe he has not picked a carrier, and only can talk locally at this point?

He does speak directly to a few people who live on earth right now. Check out the Mormon Church and their Prophet.

I'm not a Christian, but I think I can answer this.

Intuition is supposedly God talking to you. Like when you get a gut feeling that something bad is going to happen, or something doesn't feel right.
