I have two chihuahuas. The female is two years old and her ears are always pointed or flattened back. The male has one pointed ear and one floppy ear (he sometimes points it, but it stays floppy most of the time). It's really cute but I think it's rare. :D

NO, all Chihuahua do not have the pointed, stand-up ears.
The breed standard "calls" for large, erect type ears.
That does not mean all Chi have that wonderful trait.
They will be disqualified from showing if the ears fold or
droop.
That does not mean the Chi is not pure blooded or that it is
crossed with another breed.
The primary reason the ears droop is because the cartilage in the ear may not be strong enough to hold those six inch antennae in an up-right position.
It is not a hereditary trait, so breeding two droop ears will
not produce all droop ears. But the same goes for breeding
two with huge, pointed ears, one of their babies may have
ears that droop.
Not to worry though, it is not something that is seen that
often. Actually it is quite rare. In 15 years of breeding I have
only seen it about a dozen times.
The ear will try to stand, get about half way there, then just
give up and droop forward.
Even if the ears droop a bit, it does not matter to the owner
who loves them beyond reason.

For all the comments that say Chihuahuas are born with pointed ears, check out nextdaypets.com, adpost.com, petsad.com, puppyfind.com, terrificpets.com or livedeal.com. Look at the pictures that have new born litters listed.
All baby puppies are born with their ears and eyes "closed" That means their little ears are folded up into little nubs.
Even a Basset Hound (with two feet of ears) look ear-less and have tiny folded nubs.

AS a breed, chihuahuas have pointy ears... but think about the birthing process.... you can't be born with pointy ears - that wouldn't be too good for mama! I have had several chihuahuas, and by the time they are about 6 months to a year, thier ears have fully stood up. It is a little bit of a process, and takes a while for the muscles and cartiledge to form. But don't worry - it will happen!

no, i have 2 chi's who are brothers and the younger ones ears flopped when he was born but now a year later are always pointed. Ian, my older one by a year will sometimes have 1 flopped and the other pointed when he is relaxed, or he has them pointed when he is excited and he was born with 1 pointed ear and 1 flopped.

Some Chihuahua's ears never stand up. None of them are born standing up, they start standing usually 5-6 weeks, but can take a few months to stand, and like I said, some never do.

Yes, they are. When they are young, they sometimes flap over, but as they get older they stick up.
