I have found that Christians spend a lot of time in the old testament.
The new testament was inaugurated 2000 years ago.
Based on faith and grace, not the livitical law.
I have found pastors spend an inordinate amout of time in the old testament.
Why is it written, a new covenant?
A better covenant.
Or He said, A new covenant, He made the first obsolite.
2000 years is a long time don't you think?

The new and the old testament are both very important. What happened to me was that I understood the old better when I started reading the new. Now, my understanding is being enhanced by my reading the old. What I have observed is that Jesus always quoted verses from the old testament. In fact, Jesus said he did not come to do away with the old, but to give it real meaning. In the old testament, the word gives the will of the Father from the point of view of God. My understanding is that in the new testament, the word is presenting the will of the Father from the perspective of man.

If you would take the time to study the O.T. you'll better appreciate the N.T. Jesus did not make the O.T. obsolete. He said that "He did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it." There is a difference. THe Old Testament points to Christ. THere are many types that you should discover. Take a course in Christology and it will help you.

The N.T. is great, but best when taken in context. Since there is only One true AUthor, appreciate both.

Hi,
It seems that there are lots of qualities to learn from both old and new testament...
The old has lots of interesting pieces of information that you just have to study and read.. to understand what the writer is saying.. and the lessons learned...

The new testament.. is about Jesus,, Gods son come to earth...and his mission to save us from our sins.. from when he died on the cross,, to his resurection on Easter morning..

Both have qualities.. both have stories of peoples lives with God.. before and after Jesus....

Maybe that will help.... I hope so.....

The old testiment is just as important as the new, it teachs us the history of our faith and encouragments/testimonies of prohphets, faithful servents and words of wisdom.
The new testiment is however what we follow now, but you can't disreguard the old.
God speaks to you while reading your Bible, you don't have to be reading the new Testiment for God to speak to you.
