Asection housing voucher was offered to me and I plan on quitting my parttime seasonal job to take advantage of it before the time frame expires on it.

quit that job housing is more important part time jobs are easier to find than affordable housing

If you really need that voucher, then get it. But think about it. I have the same voucher myself, but I have some circumsatnces that make it so that I would be without housing without it. My son's father died, leaving me to care for my sone alone. I am working, (you can do that while recieving the voucher-- it just increases the portion of rent you pay--get the details!) and I also am in school for a career that will pay enough that I will not need this assistance anymore. Unlike the person who answered above, i think that there's a little more to it than "moral backbone"--that's a part of it, but it also comes down to need. Do you need it? Would you otherwise be homeless or living in a dangerous nieghborhood?
Only you can answer these questions. If you decide to get the voucher, make a solid plan to get off of it and become self-sufficent!!! If you plan well, the voucher people will help you work toward buying a home--they help you pay mortgage for a short while in order to get you off of the voucher, and paying for yourself!!! If you need this, then it is a wonderufl blessing!! If you don't really need it, then please let it go--- there are families who's lives will be changed by recieving that voucher in your place. I thank God every day for mine, and I know I will pass it on as soon as I can.

If your other job is in retail as well I would hold off on quiting just yet. Your first job may just be offering more hours to compinsate for the holliday crowds, you could possibly see a decrease in hours in accordance with sells. If I were you, I would keep both just to be on the safe side besides its only 1 extra month.But if u do quit just give them a 2 week notice.

No because I have a moral backbone that would prevent me from living off of a voucher when I could work and pay for my own housing.

It depends on what u plan on doing with your time when u quit. R U just gonna bum around or will u be going to school to better yourself? Those programs r meant to be a stepping stone, not a way of life.
