If you really need that voucher, then get it. But think about it. I have the same voucher myself, but I have some circumsatnces that make it so that I would be without housing without it. My son's father died, leaving me to care for my sone alone. I am working, (you can do that while recieving the voucher-- it just increases the portion of rent you pay--get the details!) and I also am in school for a career that will pay enough that I will not need this assistance anymore. Unlike the person who answered above, i think that there's a little more to it than "moral backbone"--that's a part of it, but it also comes down to need. Do you need it? Would you otherwise be homeless or living in a dangerous nieghborhood?
Only you can answer these questions. If you decide to get the voucher, make a solid plan to get off of it and become self-sufficent!!! If you plan well, the voucher people will help you work toward buying a home--they help you pay mortgage for a short while in order to get you off of the voucher, and paying for yourself!!! If you need this, then it is a wonderufl blessing!! If you don't really need it, then please let it go--- there are families who's lives will be changed by recieving that voucher in your place. I thank God every day for mine, and I know I will pass it on as soon as I can.

If your other job is in retail as well I would hold off on quiting just yet. Your first job may just be offering more hours to compinsate for the holliday crowds, you could possibly see a decrease in hours in accordance with sells. If I were you, I would keep both just to be on the safe side besides its only 1 extra month. But if u do quit just give them a 2 week notice.

No because I have a moral backbone that would prevent me from living off of a voucher when I could work and pay for my own housing.

It depends on what u plan on doing with your time when u quit. R U just gonna bum around or will u be going to school to better yourself? Those programs r meant to be a stepping stone, not a way of life.
