I have 2 litter boxes for her that shouldn't get too dirty while I'm gone. I was thinking about leaving plenty of food and water around the house, but I'm not sure if there is anything else I should worry about.

My ex's parents always left their cats at home (mainly bc they hate all other ppl), and he's saying that is alright. What else is there to worry about.

no way! take it with you or leave it with a trustworthy person. a 10 week old kitten needs a responsible person around for a while. my friend went out of town for the weekend and came back and her kitten somehow got into the linen closet and hung itself on a curling iron cord and was dead. please have someone watch it

Consider this - it might make the kitten so upset she wouldn't eat or drink for the whole time you're gone. Happened with the in-laws' cat. Might do permanent emotional harm.

Take her with you, or have someone come check up on her every day to make sure she's OK. It's no good to leave such a young kitten alone for so long, not even if there are people visiting, so the best thing for her is probably that you bring her along.

No! What kind of a person would even think of that? A kitten shouldn't leave its mom until its at least 4 to 6 weeks old. Are you on drugs? I suppose you would be asking if it would be ok to leave a 2yr old child alone for 4 days if you left enough food and water out for it and of course if he or she is potty trained and you left enough "pull ups" out just in case of an accident!!!!

There are times we have to go and can't take our pets with us, but as long as there is enough food and water left out , and enough that it doesn't run out then i do not feel that there is anything to worry about. I would get those outlet covers and put over your light sockets because kittens love to play, and if you aren't going to be there it will get really bored. I would also make sure there is no cords it can chew on so it won't get electricuted. I would leave it his favorite cat toys, and go on to do what it is you have to do, the kitten should be fine.

That's one of the good things about having a cat, they can be left alone for a short period of time, you can buy one of those self feeders and waterers at Wal-mart. If you don't want to do that just leave plenty of water and food around the house. She will be fine.
Maybe you could get a friend to drop in every other day to check on her to make sure shes okay. :)

Cat's have feelings (they are actually pretty sensitive). Would you leave a young child alone for 4 days? The kitten will have no concept of whether you are coming back - ever. It's just wrong. Take the cat with you, or get it a babysitter.

Take it with you or find a boarding kennels to look after it for 4 days. I think it is cruel to leave such a young kitten to fend for itself. It could chew through electrical wires and electrocute itself, it could get caught up in something and strangle itself. Most of all it will feel like its been abandoned, at that age they need people with them all the time. Poor thing will get very lonely. Just my thoughts as a cat owner of two myself.

I would think a 10 week old kitten could get into all kinds of trouble if left alone for more than a day.

because the kitten is only 10 weeks old, I think the best thing would be to either have someone spend a few hours a day with it, or take her with you.
when she is older, it will be fine to leave her alone for 4 days, though you might consider leaving a radio or the tv on pretty low.

SHe coould screw up your house. She could poop everywhere. SHe can unlock the door somehow (not only putting your kitten in danger but you will have an open house) She can eat all her food in one day and starve same w/ water or she might not eat at all. A pet hotel would suffice or a friend could petsit her but never alone! SHe has to be like........old
