people praying together or alone has the same effect, prays is a form of talking to god, some are thanking him for favours received and some are praying for favours god always answers every ones prayers ,at all times, but sometimes he answers with a yes and some times he answers with a no, we got to accept his decession why he said no cause he knows best, many a person has said i prayed to god but he never answered my prayers, but god did answer in the negative ,we were not listening when he said no . we are always expecting the answers to be yes so go ahead and pray with friends or alone, that will give you comfort

One potential issue is how "Prayer" is defined.
There is anecdotal evidence that implies that the more people in given geographic area, that meditate on the same thing, the greater the effect / chance of what was meditated upon, occurs. [Several controlled studies on this phenomena have been published in scientific journals. One of the major issues is that the studies were not "double blind".]
There is also some anecdotal evidence that the more people (and more groups) that pray for the same thing, the more likely that whatever is prayed for occurs. I'm not aware of published research studies, but have seen one or two reviews of what happened after local/national "day of prayer" requests. Experimenter bias no doubt highly influenced the choice of selected raw data, and interpretation of the results.
Going thru the Western Mystical tradition, one finds that the more "spiritual intensity" the person praying has, the more likely they are to see the effect they are requesting. [Put it this way: If, after your prayer, you feel as if all of your energy has been drained from you, then you have used more "spiritual intensity", than if, after your prayer, you feel nothing.]

I don't know what what you mean by more effect, but God hears every prayer, and His ear is turned in love and mercy toward the prayers of His children. He doesn't always give us what we pray for, but that's a very good thing!

Yes, thats why we go to church, so that we pray in fellowship with one another. God hears all prayers though, if you are praying from the heart. God may not answer all though, God has a plan for us, and knows whats better for us then we do. Also when we pray for things we don't really need, God will not listen.

I think it is definitely possible. I think that part of the reason prayer might work is because perhaps part of the reason that a person is sick or in need is that God is wanting to wake people up to the more important things of life. So if the sickness or whatever leads people to come before God, then perhaps the purpose of the sickness has been served. When greater good has come about, then the sickness is not longer necessary. Just a theory of mine!

I believe that a small group of people agreeing in prayer together in His name is the most effective prayer.

Any one who calls unto God with a sincere heart, God will answer their prayers. Sometimes God says no. People call those unanswered prayers.
Sometimes people try to test God, I don't think he answers those at all. EXAMPLE: God if you are really real you will turn this rock into a pot of Gold... I think he simply ignores this question.

Matthew 18:19-20 says "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
