Dude I know what you're going through... I just got over Mono and my tonsils where so swollen they where touching each other and covered in white cottage cheese looking blisters. It hurt to swallow my own saliva! I ate Jello, Popcicles, soup broth, basically anything liquid. But you should get on some antibiotics right away, the longer you wait to see a Dr. the worse it will get, I know, I waited for about a month before I broke down and saw a Dr. cause I didn't have any health insurance. Luckily the Dr. I saw gave me antibiotic samples and only charged me for the visit

Well, if u have found out that you have strep., that means u have visited with your doctor and have had a throat culture done, and the results are positive, Doctors are aware that strep is not only a strenuous bacterial infection, but a very painfull infection as well. Painfull swallowing is just one of the great things to look foward to while having strep thraot....However , many physicians will often prescribe a strong medication to aid with the discomfort. If your doctor did not prescribe any such pain relievers, try motrin or tylenol, both will help with your fever and discomfort, i only recommend this if it has no contradictions with any meds u may already be on and if your doctor has not prescribed any pain relievers. Or you can ask your doctor for a prescription for a pain reliever to help with your swallowing. most doctors will prescribe a pain reliever with out question when asked in this scenerio. Till then u might have to suffer a bit ,and try to stay away from foods that are hot ( in temperature and spice) as both will aggrevate your condition. And attempt to stay away from foods which may be abbrasive when swallowed. Doesn't leave a whole lot of choices does it??? Ice cream, popcicles, flat gingerale etc..oatmeal,
just remeber , that u have a bacterial infection, and your doctors orders for any antibiotics should be followed to a tee if u want to get better soon. I wouldn't attempt to starve yourself because your throat hurts, getting dehydrated will certainly not help your condition. hope this helps .. get well.

Soup is a great thing to eat when you have "strep". Just let it kind of trickle down your throat. I prefer chicken soup of some kind, for the strength it has. good Luck. Hope it gets better soon.

Fill the prescriptioin the MD that diagnosed your strep throat gave you, take it as ordered until it is gone. Eat popsicles, icecream, juices, cold water, soft foods, cool foods and, get some choloraseptic spray for your throat, it numbs it. Good luck.

when my husband and i came down with strepp we went to the store and got tia tea and some alkasilzer. they both helped to sooth the throat enough to get down some soup and ice cream. but going to the doctor's would still be your best bet if you have the insurance to go. otherwise if like us and dont have good insurance this did the trick and we where all better in a few days.

popsicles! they are cold and somewhat numb it. I felt like I had strep throat and it turned out to be a really bad case of bronchitis. it was awful, and I couldn't eat anything at all. everything clogged my throat, but that was also due to the mucas buildup, so all I did was eat popsicles, lots of them and it helped. good luck.

Ice cream, yogurt, apple sauce. Don't drink apple juice or eat tomato soup because they're a little acidy-feeling when they go down your throat and could make it worse

If you want to eat something that won't hurt as much, try ice cream, yogurt, mashed potatoes, applesauce, pudding, etc.
Pretty much anything that isn't a complete solid... more like a soquid (lol... from the dairy queen commercials...). I hope you feel better soon! :)
