Airbus, is based in Toulouse, France.
It's a joint venture between:
1. France
2. Germany
3. Spain
4. Britain
They make different parts at different locations and assemble at one place (like wings in Britain, Landing Gears in Germany etc. etc.)
Airbus is a rival company of Boeing and is determined to give it a tough time.
Aircraft types by these two companies are:
Airbus: A300, A310, A320, A340, A380(latest)
Boeing:707,737,747,757,767,777, Dreamliner(latest project) & Business Jets (now)
Their Engine Makers & Suppliers are:
1. Rolls Royce (British)
2. Pratt & Whittney (American)
3. General Electric (American)
My experience with two aircrafts (while flying) is that Airbus Aircrafts 'flutter' a lot than Boeings because their wings are designed to be more flexible. Airbus was the first company to incorporate the 'fly-by-wire' system in which the traditional 'Yoke-Stick' (you can imagine it with a full steering wheel cut into half) was replaced with a 'Joy-Stick' (you can imagine it with a Microsoft 'Side-Winder' that you use for playing games). My pilot freinds & relatives (pilots) tell me that Airbus is a bit easier to fly than a Boeing as you do 'nothing' most of the time while sitting on the pilot seat. Computers do the job (of course, in Boeings too). But they feel that Airbus is so simple to fly that it's not challenging as a Boeing! While some (who fly Boeings) tell me that "wow' what a beautiful bright cockpit a Boeing has--- I want to fly a Boeing'. To summarize, both have their 'Pluses' & "Minuses'. That's Life!

They are a French company that makes what i like to call throw away airplanes...when they break it is hard to find the parts and it can be much more expensive then the dc-10's in the fleet.
