If this is truly your best friend then it should be with ease that you could discuss this with her.
I would tell her openly that you have been attracted to so and so for a while but backed off because she liked him but now that they arent together would it bother her terribly if you went out on a date or two with him.
If she says yes or gets really upset then if she is your true friend then just drop it and say your right what was i thinking.
Remember: Many boys will come and go but a true friendship is hard to find.

Absolutely Rotten Girl!!!! You should be ashamed for asking a question like that. Definitely if you do that kiss your best friend good bye. Listen girl, the rules of GOOD FRIENDS....Your friends will always be there for you but boyfriends come and go sista. Why are you asking this? You know that no one on here is going to tell you this is ok. I think its awful. While she is really upset, you are going to move in on her man? This sounds like a soap opera.

YES!!
Youre supposed to support her through this.
Besides if she broke up with him then he's not good BF material. Of coarse I could be wrong about that.
If he broke up with her then youre supposed to support her and tell her that he's a jerk for breaking up with her and it's an awful way to show that by dating him.
Put yourself in her place.

It's OK if your best friend is fine with it. I kind of think it's a little strange.

You should ask your friend if she would be ok with it. If she is then go for it, if not it's not worth losing your friend over.
