I read the newspaper a long time ago about how people in certain areas of the U.S call the bubbly stuff pop, soda,or coke.
My aunt toled me how people order Coke to drink but it wasn't the brand of Coke,it was pepsi, therefor they called the bubbly stuff "Coke".

Tell me what you call the bubbly stuff, even if u drink it or not.

I am interested in what you will respond.

When I lived in NY we called all brands soda. If someone asked if you wanted a Coke, it meant Coca Cola.

I moved to Texas where Coke was a generic term for sodas. If someone asked you if you wanted a coke, you might answer, yes, I'll have a Dr Pepper.

Weird, huh?

I said "soda" growing up in Western NY; now that I'm in GA (i.e. Coke Country) I say "coke" and most of my neighbors will shoot on sight if you dare bring home a Pepsi product (small exaggeration)

I'm from Louisiana, and no matter what it is, either Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, or whatever, it is always a COKE !!! Some people say that's how you know you're a true southerner - always saying coke !!

I'm originally from Connecticut. We say "soda". I've been living in Ohio for several years, and I still can't get used to the "Pop" thing.

Soda. Sometimes I just call it caffeine, since it is the only source of my daily requirement. (I hate the taste of coffee)

I live in California now, but grew up in Missouri.
