For all who doubt it, the country was founded by a SECULARIST movement. George Washington was a Mason (several paintings show him with his apron on). Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, John Adams, and many others had deep views on their own faith including that it should not interfer with the faith of others. Despite the current upraising of Christian Fundamentalism, the United States of America is not "ruled" by a religion. Men are "ruled" by their own belief structures. Men try to "rule" with those belief structures. But evolution is taught in school, gays are on the street, people have sex out of wedlock, etc.
And another thing, just how many wars has any one religion caused anyway?

I'm American and I don't listen to what the churches say. I am Hindu. We do think for ourselves for the most part. Why do you make such a blanket statement like this about USA?

so what you are really trying to say is that you don't the like U.S.A. ! and which religion are you speaking of ? and if you don't live here , why do you care ? if you are talking about Christianity , it's not just here in the U.S. ! and as for the thinking for myself , I do ! and I also believe in the One True God. and yes Jesus is my Lord and Savior ! and now it time for you to think, how long will you walk in the darkness?

I am not "ruled" by my religion. I serve God out of love. and I don't go to any one church(though I could, I guess;)). I do much of my own thinking, but when I'm stuck, I ask God for help.

the Bible is the authority in my life. Not churches.
Hatred, greed and pride has caused more wars, not religion.
