Europeans came to lands such as Africa, America, Asia and Australia under the pretenses of spreading 'The Gospel', creating trade routes and later, setting up the commonwealth (France, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal have other names). They landed as foreigners on these shores with rifles and ammunition and once they had subdued those they found with guns, they used whips and chains to enslave the local people. What they found that was treating these people like animals actually transformed them into animal like beings, which made them less useful to the European's. So the Europeans who had come to spread the word of God about His son Jesus, were awakened to the fact that it would probably serve the purpose of creation of wealth better to treat the heathen like people. So instead of bringing the action to it's logical conclusion, complete eradication of the local inhabitants, the master's begon to educate their slaves.

For hundreds of years Europe proceeded to dig the wealth out of the colonies and send it off to the motherland along with their slaves. All the while the slave longs for the freedom and the humanity that was once his. Even though the master educates and feeds his slave, the slave knows there's more to be had and so begins to plot out how to achieve his freedom. Unfortunately, the only way to stop the master from beating him is to subdue the master, much like the foreign master did to the local in the beginning. Even though Europe does have elaborate humanitarian philosophies, none of these can be seen to be in operation in 'the commonwealth'. The commonwealth refers to taking the wealth of colonies not to create a common wealth, but to enrich the mother land by way of rape, theft, scorched earth policies and concentration camps.

The Master must be treated with the same disdain as he treats his Slave. Violence is the native tounge of the Master and is the language he has taught his slave. The slave must communicate with his master in his master's tounge to achieve liberation. The slave must go to the master's house and live there, replace him, sleep in his bed.

Because of Capitalism and War. Africa is a continent with 45 countries in it, all unique and different. Some African countries are doing well economically such as Tunisia and South Africa, whilst others are not. You cannot generalise. Africa as a continent may not have much money, but it is very rich in natural resources. It is not in the interest of the western world to see Africa develop into industrialised nations or else that will mean a shift in wealth from continents like America and Europe to Africa, Latin America and Asia.

I dont think Africa is really poor, just corrupt. The money goes to making the rich richer and the poor poorer. All the money raised for Africa, where is it? lining the pockets of the goverment no doubt.

india is poor because of population among other things but remember that they can make war jets from scratch using their own technology, same goes for brazil, these are giant countries in which everything is true, massive poverty as well as massive progress.
Africa is a special case, mainly its that the people arr too corrupt and too lazy and divided. Also no notion of development exists in the mind.

Africa is rich in natural resources but yes, crooked war lords, corrupt military officials and a butt load of jacked up politics makes the country extremely poor.

Africa is rich in natural resources and you can't keep blaming the west and other countries for their poverty, it's a cop out. Unless Africa deals with its own corruption, rivalries, suspicions and wars amongst themselves they will remain poor. They also receive millions of foreign aid to help them but it nearly always seems to end up in the wrong hands. A prime example of wanton destruction is Mugabe. He would rather see his country starve to death or beaten to death by his henchmen to stay in power as long as his own fat belly is full and has plenty of war toys and planes to play with.

Because the rich keep the money to themselves.
Africa gets so much aid but the governments are corrupt, and let people die with poverty outside the restaurant that they are having their grilled sea bass in. Do me a favour become a politician and be honest and take your country out of poverty. Encourage people to learn and adapt and start there own businesses. good luck friend.

Because we are so rich and greedy in these countries, and many of the people there aren't trying to better their own lives.
For example, many men father many, many children and abandon them, leaving the mother's to care for the kids.
But it is not everyone's fault, a lot of people are doing there best to help those countries.
Even though it seems so hopeless, I continue to pray that these countries will come out of their poverty. I really wish i could do more.
