I feed a homeless man 5 days a week. On my way home from work I stop by Taco Bell and pick up 3 or 4 tacos. He always tries to give me a newspaper to pay me back, but I don't take it. It just makes me feel good helping him out with a hot meal.

On my way to buy groceries, I saw 2 people on the side of the road with the hood up on their van. The lady was holding up a card board sign saying 'will work for food or gas!'
I had no idea how long they were on the side of the road but I turned around went to the store bought 2 hamburgers, 2 gatorades & 2 waters & I took it to the 2 people on the side of the road. On my way back from town, they were gone.
So was that a test from God or 2 people who really needed help.

Many years ago, I was in the Los Angeles area, staying at a motel.

Two very young (teenagers) ladies approached me, asking if I wanted "company."

I inquired how much they were trying to make for the night for providing "company." I doubled that amount, handed it to them and told them to go home.

(arguably, giving money to hookers is a poor choice, but given the choices, I felt it the best available option)

I thought that was nice. They didn't know me, I didn't know them and I got no recognition for my "good deed."

But, I didn't do it for recognition, I did it because I felt it was the right thing to do.

Doing "good" for friends can hardly be considered doing "good." It is more fairly characterized as bartering your services.

I've done lots of "good deeds," but since I don't do "good deeds" for anything other than the purpose of doing "good deeds," there is no reason to speak of them here.

Oh, btw, I'm an atheist.

When my hubby thought he was having a heart attack I asked him if he would like me to call 911? He said he did not care, then I called them, it turned out to be an pneumonia in the left lung. and the MD said I saved his life. He is very difficult, and not at all cooperative. That makes me think I did something that is nice for him by asking how he felt about the help that was coming
