Most people only seemed to buy people gifts because there is a reason to, not because they want. So if you feel that you need a reason to give some one a gift then do if you do not then don't.

If they are a father, I see it would be a nice gesture to buy them a gift if you want to, I'm sure it will make there day.

I wouldn't he isn't my father. I wouldn't want anyone other then my kids, if I have any, to get me a Father's day gift.
