From heaven, Jehovah could see his dear Son suffer and die. Why did God allow such a terrible thing to happen? He did so because he loved humankind. Jesus said: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16.) The death of Jesus also teaches us that Jehovah is a God of perfect justice.
( Deuteronomy 32:4) Some might wonder why God did not waive his principles of justice that require soul for soul and ignore the price of Adam’s sinful course. The reason is that Jehovah always abides by his laws and upholds them, even at great cost to himself.

Jehovah’s justice also required that Jesus’ death on the torture stake have a happy outcome. After all, would there be justice in allowing faithful Jesus to sleep forever in death? Of course not! The Hebrew Scriptures had prophesied that God’s loyal one would not remain in the grave. (Psalm 16:10; Acts 13:35) He slept in death for parts of three days, and then Jehovah God resurrected him to life as a mighty spirit being.—1 Peter 3:18.

Crucifixtion was a method of execution used on many people during that time...including the other two people next to him...it would be no different than an electric chair, firing squad or lethal injection...that was how they did it....but God did not condemn him to that particular death, that society did.
And yes it had to be a horrible death for everyone who died that way.

God did not "Condemn"

Do you not honor all the men and women that have gone to fight in all the wars to keep YOU Free?

John 1, In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word WAS GOD,

Vs. 14, And the word was MADE FLESH...... God Choose to robe Himself in Flesh to come and have a relationship with you and me. To ask a question like that is like slapping and spiting in His face. What an aweful thing to do.

His Son chose to do that for us, God did not make him. Christ wanted to do that because he loves us, God knew that we would sin and he let his only Begotten Son be sacrificed for us. There had to be an atonement for sin and Christ was the only person that could do it. How can we NOT love them both, God for allowing the sacrifice of His Son, and the Son for being the ultimate sacrifice?

This is what Jesus said about that:

John10:17,18 This is why the Father loves me, because I surrender my soul, in order that I may receive it again. No man has taken it away from me, but I surrender it of my own initiative. I have authority to surrender it, and I have authority to receive it again.

Why? 1Cor.13:4,5 ' Love...does not look for its own interest.' Jesus is interested in all mankind, and wants all to have life, so he footed the bill for us.

Can we love a Father/God who would approve of this sacrifice? I appreciate this precious gift.

How could anyone love Satan who had a part in corrupting our first parents, with the result that all their children inherit death?

Well what would you suggest? If we are to believe Christians it's the only god we got, so we're pretty much stuck with loving him or else we'll go to hell and that's way worse than hanging off a cross, am I right OR WHAT?

God gave His son as a sacrifice to mankind so that our sins could be forgiven and we could overcome our sinfullness and escape the punishment of hell to have everlasting life with Him!!! So much love and so much kindness deserves nothing but our love and faith!!! God bless and I hope someday someone tells you the good news so that you could become a child of God and have everlasting life with him!!!

Jesus was God on earth in Human form. So he was both Divine and human.
So in a sense he sacrificed himself. But only his Human form.
This was primarily done to show us Jesus was taking on the burden of our sins, because of his infinite love for us.
I believe this was also to show us not to fear death. Because a belief or acceptance of Jesus (God) as our Savior we are forgiven and have eternal life.
This was written in scripture long before Jesus arrived on earth.

I haven't a clue but I bet you 10 to 1 that Christians (and or sorts) will be making horrible comments about this question! I commend you for asking it anyway!

First they will probably say that Humans did it not God.
Then and or they might say, Because he wanted to sacrifice someone of his own blood for the people of Earth.... yada yada!...

Anyway they willl give some excuses along those lines. Good question though!

Okay for the ones who posted before me:
"OUR GOD loved us so much he gave HIS SON as a FINAL Sacrafice of our sins!

How could you trust any family who let their child go to war to save that contry?? "
mmmm how could you trust any family who let their child go to war to save that country? Isn't that like saying how can you trust God for sending his son to die for others sin? You just contradicted yourself.....
So you are saying that We shouldn't trust God because he sacrificed his son, just like we cant trust Parents who sacrifice their children to war.. Fist of all The men and women who are at war didn't do it because Mommy and Daddy said to! They did it for them selves (some of them did, others were forced to by military) I would gladly do it, I would DO IT MYSELF. I would not send my child to do that! My child is the future...if i had one...

next quote:
"Would you lay down your life for a friend?"
Well um, yeah! But I would do it, I wouldn't have my family do it for me! I have better morals than that!

"Why would anyone not want to love a god who would condemn his son to a horrible death of being nailed to a cross?
would you give your child for mankind ?no
God did, because God loves me. thats a kind of love i cant fathom "
Why would anyone want to love someone who condemned family? I wouldn't want to love a GOD because i was AFRAID of him. I would want to be loved because it is in their nature, not because he DEMANDS respect!
