Has a definite link between aspartame and health problems been proven? Years ago, the scientists said the saccharin (which was the traditional fake sweetener for diet drinks) caused cancer in lab mice, but you'd have to drink 1000 cans of soda a day to ingest the amount of saccharin they gave to the mice.

Also, now there is a new sweetener out called Splenda (that's the brand name of sucralose), which is supposed to be healthier than aspartame. Of course, it's so new that long term studies haven't been done. There's diet Coke with Splenda; diet Rite is made with it, as is diet Big Red, and a new Squirt drink.

Personally, I'm hooked on Aquafina's Flavor Splash (made with Splenda). No calories, no junk (except the sucralose) and lots of flavor (grape, berry, raspberry, citrus).

I think drinking regular soda would be worse for you in the long run.

Yes. Diet Soda is worse, although each are nonetheless unhealthy. Many persons who drink eating regimen soda day-to-day knows that its rather unhealthy for them and is addicting, style of like a cigarette.

Cola drinks have benzine in them which is known to cause cancer (heard it on the radio). There may be a link between aspartame and nerve damage; I completely stay away from diet pop.

Sadly, yeah. It has something in it called aspertame that's used instead of sugar that is a preservative that is poison to your brain.
Read the ingredients statement next time you buy a six pack of a diet soda, I'm 99% sure aspertame is in there.

I don't see why it would be bad...

But in my opinion, if you want to eat healthier or you are on a diet, why would you be drinking pop, of all things?

You will feel a lot more energized if you cut it out of your eating habits completely (I say as I drink a bottle of Coke...hey, I' not on a diet and I rarely drink pop give me a break).

No, it's not bad, except in the toge fact, that it has imitation sweetener, and that too much of anything is bad. Like Vanilla Coke? I do. Want to make your own? It's simple open up a can of coke and add a tsp. of pure vanilla extract.

Yes, its horrible, swicth to sparlkling water, juice, iced tea- or heath food sodas. It has aspertame--a horrible sweetner that turns into formaldihide in the bodt and causes tumers.
