Fan, then chicken wire, then hay, then chicken wire.
Make the hay and wire the same size square as the fan.
The hay should be about 6" thick.
Plastic pipe with 3/64 holes every 6" across the top of the hay.
Connect a hose to 1 end and cap the other.
Turn on water little by little until you get a trickle from the holes.
Turn on the fan.
Swamp cooler!

Throw your air conditoner into the swamp.

Please DO NOT DO THIS, the freon in it is rather bad for swamp critters.

If you want a portable AC system, try putting a fan in a pipe. THe moving airflow will cool the surface of the pipe via the Bernoulli Effect and Charles' law.

dump a crap load of dry ice into the water, but swamps are usually more humid than hot. dry heat is fine, but high humidity is hell. i'd know that in south texas, why can't our climate be like arizona, hot but dry, your sweat actually does the job it's supposed to, not just make you icky.
