Goth is a point of view, an outlook, a lifestyle. You're probably young. You probably just want to dress in Hot Topic gear and listen to Evanescence and My Chemical Romance. And your Mum won't let you. You can either: A) slowly and gracefully explain over a long period of time what 'goth' is to her, letting her listen to your music and read your books and communicating in a respectful manner or B) Show up at school in 3-inch spikes and get sent home as you were a walking safety hazard, and when your Mum demands an explanation you run upstairs screaming and listen to Korn. Hmmm. Try visiting goth.net for more information on what Gothic Subculture really is. But please, while in am-I-goth stage, don't post.

I am goth and a little advice is be yourself. If you're under age try discussing with your mother that goth is simply a matter of individuality and a form of expressing yourself. Too many labels state goths are depressed and mad at the world when in fact it means you have a sense of your own being and style. Beauty lies in darkness more often than light.

Your mom cant stop you. Why do you want to be goth? If you truly want to be goth you already are. its a way of thinking not a way of dressing. Be a glitter goth . take your colorful clothes and make them into goth style . i wear a black laytex corset with a floral skirt and i love it. Your mom might be close minded about things like that. alot of ppl are. But if you just do it and keep your clothes in a place where if she searches your room she cant find them theyres not much she can do. I dunno tho my whole family is gothic so im allowed. My mums goth herself so i have no problem with her trying to stop me or my brothers.

Why? so you can "B" different just like everyone else?? Be who you are. You shoudn't change for anyone, especially not to fit in with the standards of a social group. Wheather that be goth, punk, prep, or whatever. people should like you for who you are. If you want to stand out stand out on your own, not by dressing in black to make some kind of vauge statement.

Being a goth is personal choice. It has nothing to do what your mom thinks. Anyways, being gothic is rooted in rebelling against your parents pal. :)

u r trying to be something u r not. its gonna look really silly when u grow older. don have anything better to do? its the ugliest look i've ever seen, what point can u possibly make of it? ur mom is sensible. Who wants frankenstein roaming around their home???? Why don u try something cool ! Learn to play the guitar or something..do u wanna look like a wannabe to everyone?

You shouldnt have to BE someone you are not. Your mom is just trying to help you realize that. Maybe you should think it through a little more.

how old are you? if your under 18 then your mom has the right if you are of leal age you can do what ever you want but if you still live with her then it's her rules
