I respectfully disagree. Not with your question, but on a premise that you, and a lot of people, seem to assume.
Why do people always assume that there is an ultra-simple answer to everything? A world made up of nothing but totally good guys and totally bad guys might fit in a Batman episode, but not real life. I'm not going to take a side in this instance, because that would defeat my point. Some people on both sides of the arguement are guilty of it.
On the one hand, the idea that some over zealous fanatic wants to rule the world and dicatate isn't the whole picture. Sure, there's plenty of people like that. And, yes, they ARE annoying. But to say that the whole issue is just simply and only that is a little oversimplistic. Remember, we ARE dealing with human life and, right or wrong, a yes or no decision has to be made by someone as to its being allowed or not.
On the other end of it, the picture of irresponsible adults cating around every chance they get is not what every single abortion is about. There's birth defects that we can find out about before a child is born. There's rape. There's situations that would cause the child to suffer. Do these things make it automatically right? No.
The problem I have with people is when someone insists that only those folks on the given end of a debate could possibly be good people, and those on the other end are "the evil ones." I understand your desire for things that are good for society. I also think that a lot of things in this world are goofed up just because people make knee-jerk judgements and expect to find overly simple answers that they can apply across the bord without considering individual situations.

The basic problem with your argument is that human life is biologically different than animal, vegetable or bacterial life.
People who don't believe that, such as serial killers who believe that it's OK for them to kill, have to be put away from society for the good of all.
Unfortunately the eugenics movement of the last century has decided that 'inferior' humans need to be done away with in order to create a master race. So unborn babies, defective infants and disabled people were all designated 'non-human'. When Nazi Germany put that idea into practice, it created revulsion, but the ideas came back piece by piece.
As for the population argument, isn't it arrogance personified to decide there are too many people on Earth to suit YOU, and then decide it's other people that must die to thin out the crowds.
The overpopulation experts said that around 1980 when the population got over 4 billion there would be massive famine all over the world, not just in Third World countries. Hasn't happened yet, but if our planet ever does become literally overpopulated, the shortage of food supply will bring the population down naturally without the human race having to adopt the Hitler approach and decide that killing some humans is OK.

Conceiving a child is a miracle not an infection or disease. It is a beautiful miracle. In the case of rape, adoption is always an option. In the case of a chromosome syndrome, etc. one must trust God's will in this case. I made the mistake of making my choice (the wrong choice) 16 years ago. I now know that if I had allowed to son to live, he would still be with me today. Technology and medical help has changed alot since. There is alot of help out there, one must just get the facts for each situation and look and/or ask for the right help for them. Abortion is not the answer. Prayer is always the answer.

opinion? There are 2. yes and no.
No. God's opinion.
Yes. unbeliever's opinion.
It will turn out, There really is but ONE RIGHT opinion afterall.
Man's advances in medicine can determine several things, like sickness, AIDS, whatever. GOD'S WORD, HAS NOT CHANGED.
No, meant No then.. it still is the same NO... and will be the same NO, year 2174+.
Comparing a abortion with terminal medical conditions for the mother? If she is not a Christian, she should become one, real soon. She is about to make what could be, a life decision for 2 people, not just the baby.

Your question is comparing apples and oranges. Abortion is murder, period. From the moment of conception a human life is created, God's opinion that life should go on, I don't think I am large enough to tell GOD his opinion is wrong. Infections are the equivalent of pestilence and I liken that to the Devil. When in doubt, error to the side of LIFE!

I believe it is warranted to have an abortion before the third trimester. It's not a life before then and who's to say god doesn't want that person to have an abortion? If god is omnipotent and everything is predetermined than maybe certain children aren't meant to be born.

no i'm not religous at all i could care less about religion but i don't think as a person u or anyone else has the right to take someone's life away. and forget about that other stuff it's not a god thing it's a life thing. just give the child a chance at life. my mom was supposed to get rid of me or we would both die she didn't she said she prayed and now i'm 14 and we're both here. just have faith whether u believe in god or not.

According to religion, 'infection', in fact all disease was not introduced until the sin in the Garden of Eden. With all the pollution, crap in our food, cleaning chemicals, lack of sanitation etc, you cannot say 'infections' etc are God given. THere is no correlation between infection and pregnancy.

I don't like abortion, but I believe women should have the right to choose.I respect life ,but all these pro-lifers before they make abortion illegal should make sure that children aren't going to grow up starving, naked , in poverty. or fighting and dieing in an unjust war And most importantly go out and adopt a homeless person off the streets.

I don't like the idea of abortions -- but that doesn't mean I think they should be illegal. There are lots of things that I don't like that are legal. When there is a moral issue where reasonable men disagree (abortion, homosexuality, drinking) prohibiting it leads to disaster.
The thing is that the answer to the abortion question is not legislation -- it is education. And I don't mean teaching abstinence -- I mean teaching birth control.
