Look at it this why, try to think of there being nothing. When you die, your dead and that is it. Your consciousness is gone, your awareness is gone, you are just gone. It's like your asleep but not dreaming, you don't realize those hours as you sleep dreamless. So you won't realize that you are dead, because your dead.

If there was something, at least we would have something to look forward to. Honestly though, I don't know. We'll all find out though!!
