Because it is an easy way to explain an lie. And they don't have to admit that they have psychological problem that causes that shift in their minds. And yes they do have psychological problem which cause them to preform such un-natural acts.

Physically they were born with either female or male genitals but they may have different hormonal balances or brain chemical balances which suggest that they have the opposite genetic make-up.
Think about it.... who would CHOOSE to have a lifestyle where so many people ridicule and hate them for being who they are? Most people would not choose that for themselves.
