Hey! On my mom's side I have Scotthish ancestry. A predecessor of her father came o South Africa. I think he & his brother came over during the 18th or 19th century. His name was James William Thompson Muir. Any help will be greatly appreciated :-)

Muir is a really tinky name in Scotland, not sure if you know that word over there, it means like gypsy or horrible caravan-living scum. Best not to investigate, the only people I know with that surname are mentally subnormal thugs who joined the police so they could throw their weight about.

there are Muirs throughout the central belt of Scotland
or pay £10 for phone book of area and work your way through it
