Being a Christian is not about religion but a relationship. When you accept the Jesus as your Saviour then you are a Christian. That is how you become a Christian. Living as a Christian takes a lifetime of learning and obedience and we frequently fall short as many of the previous post attest to. The Link below will give some more insight if you are interested.

Christians believe that there is a God who created everyone and everything. This God loves us very much like a father does, while He has an incredible amount of love for us, He also wants us to try to get to know Him and live our lives in a way that's pleasing to Him. Unfortunately, every single person messes up in living a life that is pleasing to God. We all do things that are wrong (Christians call these wrong acts sins). One of God's qualities is that He's just, and justice would demand that we would be punished for all the wrong acts that we've done. However, God is also a loving God who loves each person individually. In an incredible act of love, God sent His son Jesus Christ (who is both God and man at the same time, which is a little confusing) to the world to bear the burden of the punishment we deserved. Jesus was innocent, yet he died at the hands of man, and in doing so he bore the punishment of the whole world's sins. Three days later Jesus rose to life, having successfully dealt with sin. Just as he rose to life right here in the physical world, God also offers us a chance to be raised to life forever in heaven.

Becoming a Christian is easy. It's simply a matter of telling God that you're sorry for all the wrong things you've done and believing that Jesus paid the price of the deserved penalty for you. Living as a Christian is a little more work, because living for God and not for yourself is challenging to do. However, it's absolutely worth it, because you get to know the real purpose for living and you can even get to know God Himself. Plus when you become a Christian God will give you the Holy Spirit, which guides and helps and encourages us in many different ways. And God promises that if we believe in Jesus we'll get to go to heaven!

You can read more about Christianity in the Bible, which is a collection of writtings that were inspired by God over a span of two thousand years. I would recommend reading a book called John in the Bible, it's the best place to hear about who Jesus was and what he did.

Ok, a Christian is a disciple or follower of Christ. Christians recognize the Bible as being the true word of God and their purpose in life is to "Make disciples of all nations", worship and serve God and strive to become Christ-like. Honestly, there are not so many true, hardcore Christians who are doing what they are supposed to be doing. The world has poisoned our minds and many people think that it's alright to pick and choose what they want to believe from the Bible and live life centered around themselves. Let me tell you that simply believing in God or going to church will not save anyone or make them acceptable in God's eyes. Christianity is about a personal relationship with the creator of the universe.

"A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, believing him to be the Son of God and the savior of human souls from sin and death. Christians believe that Jesus lived a life befitting that of the creator of the universe, free of sin, and at the end of his earthly life was crucified. They believe that he died and then three days later he rose from the dead, to give the message to his followers. Most Christians maintain that Jesus offers eternal life to anyone who believes in him and asks for this free gift. There are somewhat different interpretations of the exact meaning of salvation 'through' Christ, although virtually all Christians agree that it is the perfect form of reconciliation to God, and that this is only possible because of Christ. Christians, by definition, are a part of Christianity. Christians are monotheistic, believing that there is one God. Today, it is estimated that there are around 2.1 billion Christians in the world."

A Christian is a person that has believed and trusted in what the Lord Jesus Christ done on the cross for them. He died for their sins, He was buried and took their sins away and He rose again the third day for their justification. A Christian has a ministry that the Lord has given them. They have the ministry of reconciliation and they are to reconcile a lost and dying world to Christ. 2 Corinthians 5: 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; A Christian also holds a high office in the kingdom of God. They are ambassadors and they are representing their heavenly home on the earth. 2 Corinthians 5: 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

A true Christian is a very peculiar person.
He doesn't operate the way other people do.
He has an inner belief. A deep faith that Jesus is the Savior of his individual spirit.
He has a view that all he has or ever had was given to him by God.
He has a view that salvation was given to him. That he was called to salvation by God Himself.
His sin ( unbelief ) was taken away. He sees things about God differently.
He believes that Jesus was the savior.
He believes that Jesus was the Word of God.
He believes that God is His Word.
He believes that unbelief was the sin, unbelief in God's Word.
If you read the Bible you can see that the word unbelief or unbelieving is mentioned many many time.
Also you can see the believe or believing is mentioned many many time.
So it is what you believe. ( faith is the key )
The Faith is given to you as a gift. Gift form whom? God Himself.

A christian is someone that believes that Jesus Christ, the Son of God came down from heaven and died a horrible death on a cross so that we (everybody) can live and have eternal life with Him in heaven. We believe he died to take our place so we wouldn't have to die, he payed that price for you, and me and everyone else. If you're interested and just plain curious i'll try to help you out, kbug_26@yahoo.com, ask me some questions and i'll try to help.

I disagree......I think in order to claim yourself a Christian, you have to believe that Jesus was the son of GOD, and the promised messiah.

Jews do not call themselves Christians.....they do not believe that Jesus was the messiah...they believe he was a great prophet...but they are still waiting for the messiah to come.

So, saying anyone can claim to be a Christian, is not true.

Supposed to mean "christ like" but in todays society christian is a very general term. But I think it means looking at Jesus and his way of life and believing in his teachings.
