If you are not used to drinking alcohol, don't order a hard drink before dinner. Order something like Kir. It is white wine with enough creme de cassis in it to turn it pink.
If you don't know the family very well and you want to make a good impression, order something that is easy to eat with a knife and fork. Don't order anything that you are going to have to wrestle with.
Bon appetit!

I'm just a water drinker so I can't help you with that but I like the crab alfredo and the New England clam chowder is yummy too. Don't forget to eat a couple garlic biscuits also!

i would say to order a glass of wine. it shows a little class, and doesn't make you look like a lush or an alcoholic. i'd say that's the safe choice. if you are looking for something yummy, a raspberry vodka mixed with 7up with a lime is tasty.

Since we don't know how old you are, I would say if you are under 21 to order water or ice tea. If you are 21 or older then maybe white wine
