We're having some Americans stay with us, so I'm just wondering what foods they might like to try that they cant buy in America - for example Marmite or custard?

In chat rooms a few Americans said they love English mustard, same as we have here, apparently the American mustard isn't nice. From a friend who was over there recently they couldn't find any decent breakfast cereal or muesli, cordial or tasty cheese, so there's a few ideas for you. Hope they enjoy their stay.

Probably not much help, but as an American in England a few years back, I found very little that I liked. In fact the best way I know of for an American to lose weight is to go to England.
One thing though that is common in England but much less so here is the Indian food found there. Some of the desserts are good. I ended up going fish and chips alot. Another tip is Americans typically use more ice cubes than you English have ever imagined, so stock up on ice. Good luck.

America is a very big place compared to most countries. It doesn't mean people in Americans are happier than other people....studies show that isn't true. America became a global superpower after World War 2 and still is, but now people are worrying about China catching up.

My American friend liked-
beef wellington
fish and chips
indian curries
chocolate hobnobs
jaffa cakes
tunnocks tea cakes
irn bru
Theakstons Old Peculiar Ale
Caledonian 80 shilling Ale

He thought most of the UK chocolate bars were cr4p though! and said the restaurants were poor value - I probably agree you can eat really well for much less in the US

PS Why cant you get custard in the US?

Despite what people say there are foods you can't get in America:)
Try Faggots. Faggots chips and mushy peas. Yummy!
Our bacon and cheese is different, so be careful using these.

I'm British but on my one trip to USA (LA) I don't remember seeing a fish and chip shop. I'm sure they can get them in restaurants but its not the same as from the chippy. I'd treat them to a takeaway from the chippy complete with mushy peas.

Give em some proper chocolate. The chocolate I had in America tasted like cooking chocolate, and after I left it in my bag for a week, it smelt like sick.
