Actually,
Mr Gates would make a fine president and the country would be better for it. The reason I say this is that he has taken a "hobbyist activity" and made it one of the biggest enterprises in the world. All the while still using the funds from this (now don't get me wrong - he has NOT done enough as far as I am concerned) to pursue Philanthropic endeavors.
Most huge corporations could learn to do this.
He has also pursued litigation against those who seek to infringe on the intellectual rights and properties of the business.

No, I dont think Gates should be President.
I agree that he will know how to handle budgets and lead based on the work of his company, but the job of Commander-in-Chief is much more complex than that. I doubt he has the understanding of effective foreign policy crucial to the United States.

Gates is too smart for that job. We need someone with the intelligence of W.
And for the person who said something about foreign policy, commander-in-chief and other big words/phrases, I think Gates has enough smarts to do all that crap in his sleep. I mean come on, you must be kidding.

LOL He is too smart to even think to run for a President of USA. He knows better how politics work. People won't elect him anyway because he is too smart and rich. Americans don't like smart rich people. I always say that Americans most of them lack of knowledge. And never understand why they hate smart & rich people.

Heck no! Microsoft is one of the worst offenders when it comes to oursourcing jobs to other countries ... what makes you think Bill Gates would change that philosophy if he's President?? We need a President who is OF the people FOR the people ... note the FOR the people bit .... it means FOR the AMERICAN people ... not that our present administration seems to know ...

Oh yeah, I could see the State of the Union Address now, on an overhead run by XP and it crashes when he begins talking about the economy.
But to answer your question, he could do worse.

He is retiring in 2 years to be able to run his charities. I do not think he is interested in being insulted by people who call him big corporate business.
