Your goal should not be to convert people, per se. That's putting evangelism ahead of the people.
Your goal should be to try to serve them, listen to them, care for them, and understand them, just as you would like to be treated and regarded yourself -- just as Jesus did with the people he came into contact with.
He also regarded as a prophet and teacher, and could do miraculous things, so he had the social credibility to speak publicly on moral issues -- something some of us probably don't have. But service and love is the one thing everyone can do.
If you have an opportunity to share something that has been meaningful to you in regards to God, then you should share it. And if someone is heading really far down the wrong path, sometimes you will feel that God is asking you to intervene -- usually not just with words, but with relational support as well.
In any case, when a life is modelled after Christ's, people will be befuddled enough to ask what's going on.
Evangelism is not a high-pressure sales technique, and ideally one should serve others because they really care about them as people, not just to convert them to a religious doctrine. If you're really loving them as Jesus would, don't worry about always discussing God. God will come out through what you say and what you live.

Just being a good example is probably the best way...BTW, I think that you don't have to be a Christian to be a follower of God...I know lots of people who love God, but are not Christians...

You dont, You leave them to believe what they want. I want to know what happened to 'Judge not lest ye be judged' You know that verse is more for Christians than other religions. If people want to belive in God they will. Personally I belive in a God and a Goddess, does that make me bad/evil no does it make me a non christian ....yes it does. But im not a bad person because of it and dont try to convert me cause it wont work!
Thank you and good day

How do you get non-Christians to become followers of God?
Well, history is your best teacher.
Torture them for not accepting the Bible as gospel. Go to war with them to take over their land, rape their women, kill their men and enslave their children.
Then, as new generations are born, send them to mandatory schooling where they are taught the tenets of the Bible, tell them they are saved, and make them feel good about themselves for knowing "the one right way to live."
On the other hand, don't try to force them to accept your beliefs at all. Alot less war that way.

I've always wondered why Christians find it necessary to get others to become Christians. I know Jesus said to spread the Word, but that's all that he asks. There is no demand to force others to believe as you do, there is no necessity to force others to abandon their beliefs. Even if you absolutely detest the other person's beliefs to the point where he/she is an enemy, you must still love them.

It is not up to us. All we can do is spread the Gospel. I was a non-christian and vowed never to go to church. What got me to follow the lord was the Christians who didn't try to force it onto me. Just be there for anyone who has questions and don't try and force it. If you push, you are just pushing them away.

A lot of folks believe in a supreme authority just not the christian version of that diety. Trying to force them to believe yours is trying to interfer with their free will to choose. If your version of "god" doesn't, what gives you the right to?

The only thing you can do, is give your opinion without forcing it. I am an agnostic, there will be no converting of me. People who want to become believers of your god, will come to you, not knocking at their doors, or shoving opinions down their throats.
