lots of easy ones out there. my favorite (and i'm not a teen anymore, but i still like easy recipes, lol) is salsa.
2 tomatoes - only use the meaty part on the outside, get rid of the seeds and watery middle part
1 green pepper, 1 red pepper, about a table spoon of fresh cilantro, about a teaspoon of lime juice, 2 cloves garlic, i medium sized onion, and one jalepeno (i use more because i like it to be really spicy). dice everything up into fine bits, put it in a bowl and let it sit for about an hour in the fridge.
its going to taste much brighter and fresher than normal salsa, and you can add all kinds of stuff if you want to. a little lemon, or lime, use other colored peppers for show, meat, beans, you name it.
i use that as an appetizer, and make skillet shrimp scampi as the meal. check out foodtv.com and search for it. it takes about an hour, not real hard, you just need to take the time to shell the shrimp. if you like those ideas, let me know, i'll fill you in on what i do for desserts too. premium home made ice cream. good times. lol.

FREEZE 6 hours or until firm. Remove from freezer; let stand in refrigerator 15 min. to soften slightly. Top with the halved strawberries just before serving. Store leftover dessert in freezer.
HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES
Makes 12
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
6 tablespoons Hershey’s Cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk, room temperature
1 large egg, lightly beaten, room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup boiling water
1. Place rack in center of oven and heat to 350°. Line cupcake tins with 12 paper liners; set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine cocoa, sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add butter, milk, egg, and vanilla. Using a hand-held electric mixer on medium speed, beat for two minutes. Add boiling water and beat to combine (batter will be thin). Divide batter evenly between cupcake liners.
3. Bake until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Also try hersheys.com, it has very easy recipes and everything I have tried to make is yummy. They also have a guide to what would be kid friendly (not that a 13 year old is a kid). Good luck and have fun.

spaghetti.
Or, Balsamic vinegar chicken. It's really easy. Bread chicken breasts, fry them in olive oil until browned, pour balsamic vinegar to coat. Let the chicken simmer in vinegar for about 5 minutes, turning once or twice, and serve.
