The only bulldog puppy you are going to get for that price is a half-dead one, I'm sorry to say. I couldn't even sell you an English Bulldog puppy's toe for that price. I have a C-section and a pile of other vet bills to pay for by the time the puppies are ready to leave my care. That's just how it is.

You may, however, find one for three digits in a shelter or rescue organization. Try petfinder.com . It's a wonderful site that helps you search shelters for the breed of your choice. One word of warning, however... Most of the Bullies you will find in shelters have expensive medical problems.

An English Bulldog is a lifetime of big vet bills, and if you are looking for a cheap dog, this is definitely *not* the breed for you!

Special Care

Due to a surge in popularity, some disreputable breeders have begun breeding bulldogs without thought to temperament. This has resulted in an increase in aggression within the breed. Make sure you acquire your bulldog from a reputable breeder and socialize your puppy at an early age.

Health Concerns

Heat illness occurs when exposed to excessive environmental temperatures and being unable to dissipate the heat quickly.

Brachycephalic syndrome is a group of facial abnormalities that result in difficulty breathing and snorting.

Dystocia is the term used to describe difficult birthing. Due to their large heads, it is difficult for the mother to pass the puppies vaginally and most bulldogs have cesareans to deliver their babies.

Facial fold dermatitis is the skin problem that occurs when the facial folds retain moisture. Infection can occur.

Cryptorchidism is the term used to describe the situation when one or both testicles do not descend into the scrotum and remain in the abdomen.

Hip dysplasia is a malformation of the hip joint that results in pain, limping and arthritis.

Hypoplastic trachea is an undersized windpipe that results in difficulty breathing and can increase the chances of developing pneumonia.

Hypothyroidism is an underactive thyroid gland that can result in sluggishness, weight gain and serious illness.

Cherry eye is a prolapse of the third eyelid. Though not a serious injury and does not cause blindness, the prolapse can be irritating to the surface of the eye and cause persistent tearing or eye pain.

In addition, bulldogs are prone to mast cell tumors, elbow dysplasia, lymphoma, acne, deafness, eyelid problems and heart defects.

The average lifespan for the English bulldog is 8 to 10 years.

Can you afford all of this? If so, go for it!

no most people are not looking to spend that kind of money on a dog.. stick around here long enough and you will see people asking where they can get an english bully for free or cheap they are expensive to breed.. there's a lot of health tests that need done because they are prone to a lot of disease.. they almost always need a cecarian.. they often can NOT breed naturally, so AI is required. Its costly to collect, store and AI semen.. and if you dont AI at the right time, she doesnt get pregnant. It may take a few heat cycles before pregnancy is accomplished. And after all that expense, they often only have maybe 4-5 pups, if that. A breeder very rarely gets more than one litter of pups from an english bulldog female. there is always the risk of mom and pups dying as well.. it can be quite a financial loss. breeding dogs is a hobby.. a very expensive hobby

I wanted to buy an english bulldog, for my husband. Turns out they run at about $1500 and that was the cheapest. Good luck finding one for $150.

It is almost imposible to get a bulldog cheaply; they generally cost more than most dog breeds because they are VERY difficult dogs to breed. Brecause of their head size vs. theeir body size, they require more (expensive) pre-natal care, and very often have to be whelped by caesarean (again, expensive). Since it costs alot to produce bulldog puppies, it costs alot to buy one. If expense is really a major factor, you might try getting an adult from bull dog rescue.

I don't have any but where I live (N.C.) they run around $800-$1200 depending on the parents and whether or not they are registered. If you find any for the price you mentioned let me know. These dogs are cute!

Consider breed rescue, your vet will have the number. They will have lots of puppies this time of year.
